I need to learn how to make curry.

I was just thinking the same thing.

And Giles- I'll take you up on that visit/cooking lesson, eventually (if it's open to me, too).  Just have to wait for the kids to get a little older; we're not ready to subject a planeful of people to loud & unhappy children for 8+ hours.

They're in the midst of nasty head colds- which they have, of course, passed on to Julie and me- so they're especially cranky right now.  Shutting them up in a cellar is a wonderful fantasy.

I would love that Tarka Dhal recipe G. I have a Pat Chapman version which is not bad….always best after it's cooled a bit and started to solidify.

Gotta shout out for the kids - Caroline is a lovely little girl, Benjamin (admittedly not met) a delightful and spirited boy - could be that Dad is the cranky one who gets locked in the cellar…

As long as we're not in the same room, so that I can have some quiet time to myself, sure.  I'll happily be the one that goes to the basement.:)

And lest anyone get the wrong idea, my children are generally quite sweet, loveable little people.  It's just when we're all sick that I (and Caroline) get really short tempered.

Decided on making some ricotta today for the first time a while.  I always forget just how good that stuff is fresh.

Ricotta on thinly sliced zucchini with salt, pepper, and olive oil.

Cool; last night for dinner I made grilled salmon with streamed fresh asparagus lightly coated in olive oil, fresh cracked pepper and a touch of garlic.  Quick, easy and really good.  I could eat salmon and asparagus 4-5 nights a week…
