@Indigo-Alchemist I'd just measure your "most comfortable pair" and go with the measurements when they come out... The good part is if they're too big you can always wear a belt, but if they're too tight there's no fix and can't wear them...
-
@Jord yeah, I‘m probably overthinking it. Just don’t want them too wide. If that happens to a shirt I can always tell myself it’s for layering but that won’t work with pants, for me at least

Sort of what @worn2fade mentioned below with the bunched up waistband, don’t like that either -
@Indigo-Alchemist IMO your best bet is to only compare the 888-XHSib size chart to your current 888’s.
If they measure 88cm at the waist and you want them a tad more snug, then when looking at the size chart check for some that measure a little less than that— just make sure that you’re cool with all other measurements. Measure the thigh on your current OD pair and if you dig how your thigh is on those make sure that you find that measurement in your new pair too. In my opinion, the most important measurement is the thigh (may be a personal thing bc I have big thighs which is what draws me to the 888 cut.)
Also pay attention to the hem. If you size down, so will that hem and a quarter inch of a difference is a huge difference when it comes to the hem.

Do these shrink much in length after the first wash?
-
From the product description found here: https://ironheart.co.uk/products/ih-888-xhsib
When washed following our care guidelines, expect approximately 1" shrinkage in the waist and inseam. All other dimensions will shrink proportionately to the waist
Stretch Details
- Post-soak or wash, the waist will stretch out approximately 1" with wear. All other dimensions that are put under pressure will have a tendency to stretch back to pre-soak/wash size

Thanks

@worn2fade as a gen 1 tacoma driver this comment hit hard hahaha
-
Measurements are basically the same as XHS.
If I want to stay TTS, it definitely will work out for me.

-
@worn2fade agree as long as you don’t have issues in the other areas. If the thigh is tight, it will be hard to stretch those out to pre wash measurements. Waist is relatively easy and other areas may stretch back out with time (other than inseam).

Yeah dude, that’s why I mentioned earlier that I’m going to wash my XHS this weekend to see if there’s any gnarly shrinkage. I did the initial soak on them (wearing them in the tub to avoid any excessive thigh shrinkage,) but after that first wash is when you really know lol. Hopefully I haven’t been wearing this pair for the last 6 months for nothing lol. If the shrinkage is wild, I’m definitely sizing up on this pair.
-
@worn2fade solid plan and best of luck. I have one pair where I got my measurements wrong and when washed became too tight. Put them on a shelf and forgot about them until one day when I gave them another chance. Still too tight, but fought them until they stretched back out. I am happy to say that my perseverance paid off and are one of my best fitting jeans.
They are the only pair of jeans that bruised my hips though…
-
@goosehd dang bro, I need to know which model it was that pushed you to your limits lol.
Let me guess tho.. you have yet to wash them again?
-
@worn2fade 666xhs and washed/worn numerous times over the years.
-
@goosehd and you didn’t experience the fabric shrinking the same way as the first wash?
-
@worn2fade only the first.
-
I always found that after a second or third and further washes, it tightens up after it dries but within a day or sometimes within hours its mostly stretched back out, its that first wash that is the riskiest one I find
