Blind tasting consensus was that these two had a lot of surprising differences and the 8yr was the clear winner.
Finished off with a bottle kill of some 1982 decanter juice.

@pechelman the Forthave RED is quite good. But I don’t think you can beat the OG.

Man I used to drink 101 a bit too much. That brings back some memories. And some gaps where memories should be.

Yup - I can relate

Just recently got this back from a friend I had loaned it to, and thought maybe someone on this thread might like to read it. For the most part it’s really good,at times the author relates what was going on in his own life during the time when he was writing the book, and I found that less interesting and couldn’t wait until Julian Van Winkle came back and was talking about bourbon. I thought that I knew the Pappy backstory, but found out that I knew very little of it. Anyway if you’re interested I’d be happy to send it along and maybe it can go around like the Charlie Watts book.

I could easily see this finding a place in the Endomobile!
It would certainly welcome that. See if I can find any.

Decided to try these two head to head,
vs
. Both Mediterranean gins with a strong lemon presence, but each with a distinct style.
has more woody, herbal notes with a distinct Provençal feel. Definitely the more savoury of the two (glad I had this one first).
feels cleaner with the Amalfi lemons coming through very clearly. Slightly oily like limoncello but without the sweetness. Overall a softer feel but definitely not bland.
Both tried with tonic and lemon for a fair comparison but I think they’d be very versatile without any “difficult” botanicals like the olive in Gin Mare. I’m going to call it a draw - IMO both are worth buying again and a good choice for summer.
