I used to drink a lot of the red in the early/mid nineties when it was an absolute bargain.....

@Giles only became aware of them in the mid 2000’s…
Good thing is that there are lots great, younger vineyards in Europe with decent bottles in the €10-20 price bracket.
The odd thing in the UK and Scotland is that I can’t find a decent wine shop or merchant - it’s terrible supermarket stuff or stiff-upper-lip, prestigious labels stuff only. Very little in between.
