@FOXY Never had an aged Riesling myself but I do really like a nice mineraly Riesling so I am pretty jealous of that one

Less jealous of the sherry vinegar...

I can imagine some of those '99s will be excellent, so hope you enjoy

Good dry Rieslings can be amazing for the reasons you mentioned - crisp, mineral/minerality and the wet, damp stone cellars.
with some of the Ahr and Mosel GG's you can get some really big cinema if you let them sit for a decade or two. but those need some grape sugars to get there.

is into Chateau Musar
I used to drink a lot of the red in the early/mid nineties when it was an absolute bargain.....

@Giles only became aware of them in the mid 2000’s…
Good thing is that there are lots great, younger vineyards in Europe with decent bottles in the €10-20 price bracket.
The odd thing in the UK and Scotland is that I can’t find a decent wine shop or merchant - it’s terrible supermarket stuff or stiff-upper-lip, prestigious labels stuff only. Very little in between. -

Actually not (since 1918) Alto Adige is a part of Italy

@Chap Oh shit! What an idiot I am!
Thank you, my friend, for correcting me.🫵No prob mate... at least here. It is (or was) quite a controversial issue

Better not start a discussion about it with the locals or Tyrolians in general especially the elder ones
