UES heavy indigo flannel in stock at Bears at a great price. A similar, but softer version of Tricotine from what I've heard.

@DeeDee85 I ended up finding it on sale NWT on the raw denim reddit forum. I was drawn to it for similar reasons, the extra length and handwarmers.
(RGT washed denim shirt and Railcar flight trousers)
Just picked up a slubby PBJ type 2. Fit is great around shoulders and chest, and the length is perfect for a longer torso. There's slight tightness in the armhole, which may be diff in width and placement relative to IH, but already loosened after a few hours. The fabric feels similar (lightweight, crispy) to IH's 16oz slubby denim.
Head's up for folks looking for a Tricotine. Bears in Tokyo has all sizes in inventory right now. Shouldn't last long. Great price too.
Cheers!
I saw! It looks fantastic but may hold off until I can put in some time with the tricotine.
Wearing it today, in fact. Underneath is a Dubbleware chambray, which i just picked up from @Giles
@Mizmazzle yes it is. I almost grabbed the Amundsen shirt from Bears, but waited too long.
I've put in two wears already with the tricotine and can't wait to break it in. The heavy flannel version is surely softer, but I don't find it uncomfortable or too stiff at all.
Just arrived! I got it from iron pyrite productions (online, no brick and mortar at this time). Quick delivery, no issues whatsoever. Had a nice back and forth with the business owner as well.
First impressions are quite positive. Substantial in heft at 15 oz, solid construction and fit is great. I could have fit into a size 4 as a shacket, but feel good about the choice of a 3 (6"2, 175). I won't have a chance to break it in for a few more weeks (hopefully) but will post updates.
Just pulled the trigger on a tricotine shirt in (hopefully) my size. I was leaning towards the extra heavy indigo flannel (Amundsen), but there's always room for another long sleeve in New England.
I'll post some initial impressions once it arrives.
@gr8-selvedge Love the shots of the Tricotine and Heavy Flannel. Do you find yourself reaching more for one vs the other? Any notable differences between the two ? From what I've read, it seems that the flannel wears considerably softer with otherwise similar favorable qualities, but it seems that most folks online are focused on the Tricotine.
Curious if others have any comments to add on factors that led to their purchase of one or the other. Thanks!
Perfect day to break in the newest addition. Loving the texture and breathability on a summer day.
It took 2 tries to get the sizing right. I love the higher rise, but misjudged the waist measurements. This is a 35, but could've gone with a 34.
Reviving the thread with a new-to-me addition. I was curious to see how the natural indigo wears and fades. I've put in a few dozen wears over the last 3 months, but still a far cry from @PattyCakez 's jacket.
@indigostiff Thanks! I picked it up gently used, so can't speak to prior history. Once washed since I acquired it, with a handful of wears.
@tody Thanks! At 6'3 with long limbs, IH fits generally work well for me.
Loving the fabric and fit. I sized it so it fit loose enough to serve as an overshirt. Can't wait to put some more wears in.
Finally had time to post a quick fit. For my first pair of IH jeans, I'm grateful for the recs to start with the 21oz indigo. I've put in 5 wears and it has started to soften nicely. Other than a snafu of doing the dishes multiple nights without an apron (indigo all over white countertops, discovered by an understanding spouse), its been a delight.
Thanks again for all the suggestions!
Thank you all for your help. I went ahead and ordered the 21oz indigo as my first pair of IH. They should be here later this week. I'm excited and appreciate all the feedback and input, which helped me choose the right starting point. As a bonus, I randomly learned about a stockist in Atlanta (@guiltyparty), my old neighborhood. I'll stop by my next trip down south.
I'll post initial impressions soon. Cheers!
Thank you all for the input!
@popvulture, what cuts of 3Sixteen did you have? Any comparison notes to how the 555 fits?
@guiltyparty , incredibly helpful to know first hand the differences in denim characteristics.
@Germinal , incredible that 25oz wears so easily. I'll likely start my IH journey on a lighter fabric, and graduate to a higher weight class.
At this time, it looks like I'll choose between the 21oz indigo and 17 oz natural indigo (which seems to fade a bit more slowly). It seems from the photos to look similar shade of indigo, but that might just be the poor quality of my screen. I'll take closer look at the measurement charts and read through the respective threads on the forum. Thanks again!
@Alex Thank you for the photo reference! I'm looking for indigo, at least for my first IH pair. I'm intrigued by the vintage 18oz, but it's currently out of stock of my size. Otherwise, a fade to a lighter blue would be great.
Excited to join the IH community. I am deciding on my first pair. I've landed on 555 due to my build and preferences for a higher rise. I'm torn on the weight and color. I'm currently 10 wears into a 3sixteen, nt-100x 14.5 oz indigo. I'm hoping for some input here on the fabric.
What weight would you recommend to rotate with the 3sixteen 14.5oz? I'm leaning towards the 17oz, but am also open to the 21oz. If the 17oz is as breathable and soft as the 21oz, I'd likely go lighter for 4 season wear in New England.
Outside of weight, any suggestions on a fabric that offers some variation from the 3sixteen in terms of dye, fade, etc? I'm likely going to stick to just 2 pairs of jeans for at least the next year, so I wanted to have a little variance in characteristics as I break them in.
Thanks for your input!
