IH-717-NAV - 9oz Mercerised Selvedge Cotton Straight Cut Chinos - Navy
Chinos take their name from the fabric they are made from. Chino cloth is a cotton twill originally developed for the military. This version of what is now a classic casual pant is made from 9oz Japanese selvedge chino cloth. Iron Heart offers a number of different chino pants, this is our straight, or '634' cut.

Regarding the recent release of of the IH-717 chinos.
The information recorded on the product page at the time of release stated that these pants were not expected to shrink with washing. We have since carried out some tests in the office which prove that this is untrue, the pants do reveal some shrinkage with a gentle wash (40 celsius with low spin).
As such you can expect approximately 0.5" shrinkage in the waist, and approximately 1" shrinkage in the inseam. Other dimensions are expected to shrink in proportion to this. Any area put under tension, will have a tendency to stretch back out to approximately pre soak sizing. Those that are not (inseam), will not.
As always, if you have any questions regarding this information or if you need any assistance with sizing please do reach out to Shop@Ironheart.co.uk.
On behalf of the Iron Heart team - Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

@Ross do you expect the same levels of shrinkage in the other 9oz mercerised cuts such as the IH-727?
I have the 727 in a couple of colours but haven’t washed yet, so just wondering what to expect, especially as I had them hemmed to the perfect length.
Thanks -
@IrishHeart Nope, your 727s should be fine - in fact it was a back to back comparison to 727s that was part of our investigation as they felt noticeably different with one in each hand

@Ross that’s good to hear. Thanks for the prompt response Ross
