Sounds like a cool project! Would love to see the process of how you went about turning 21oz into micarta and if you get your hands on some patches how you make a slip
I should have taken some pictures during the build but I always forget. All you have to do to make the micarta is buy some clear epoxy, I used Total Boat high performance, and then have 2 flat surfaces to sandwich the material, I used 2 pieced of thick glass I had. Soak each piece of denim in the epoxy then lay it on parchment paper on the glass and use a roller or squeegee to get the excess epoxy out. Once the layer looks wet, apply the next layer, and so on. Once you have all your layers stacked, roll out the excess epoxy and then lay the second flat surface on top with parchment paper and load on a bunch of weights. I put about 100lbs on the top plate. You could also used wood clamps instead of weights. After 24 hours its hard and ready to go.
