Going out to my big event this coming holiday weekend to get my Level 3 certification with this monstrosity. And surprisingly for this time of year, it will be cool enough for me to wear my 21oz triple 6's to keep them fadez movin along. Will update with some fade photoas after the flight. Wish me luck!

Quick work trip to Los Angeles, went and paid a visit to the folks at Self Edge! They were extraordinarily kind, so I ruthlessly demanded a selfie, as one does.

This photo isn't from today, but I spent a good portion of my evening working on this piece of madness. Level 3 High Power Rocketry certification flight is in september and there is a lot of construction/planning/testing still to go.

Quick work trip to Acadia National Park in Maine.

Weird update...I shortly after I posted the failure of this, I received a text message that a farmer had found my rocket. I went and recovered it, and the onboard footage had survived as well. No certification, but she lives to fly another day as there was NO damage despite falling to earth a 80 feet per second. Enjoy the cool onboard video!

Quick work trip to San Francisco. Realized just in time that there is a Self Edge close by and brought 2 pairs of 25oz to drop off and get hemmed. And of course had to get a selfie with the crew.

Finally picked this up this year. It's a murphy lab R0, but I got a really good deal on it (around $3000.00 USD) from my local guitar center. First thing I did when I got it home was took some sandpaper to the back of the neck to make it feel more like a natural maple neck. Then swapped out the volume and tone knobs since I much prefer the gold top-hat look of the 59's. The pickups, however, in these historic re-issues are lots of fun...perhaps a little too much fun for my neighbors.......or my wife..

@ShopatIronHeart How is the sizing on these? Should I use my measurements directly off a Brannock device? Or is it one of those "size up" or "size down" kind of situations?
Was looking at ordering a pair but with me being in the US would like to have the best shot at success on the first try.

@Go-For-Chill Unfortunately it does affect it. The rocket must be recovered and it must be in a condition that it could be immediately re-flown. So no certification for me womp womp lol.

@Giles we don't believe so. It may have come in ballistic but we never heard the "death whistle" my guess is that the main parachute came out before it was supposed to and it drifted several miles. Simulated altitude was around 15,000' AGL

Sorry for the late update. I don't imagine its uncommon to reluctantly broadcast our own failures. I had my Level 3 Certification attempt over the holiday weekend at the end of August. Everything went beautifully until it didnt.
The rocket punched a cloud and I lost visual on it with the binoculars. So I immediately shrugged it off, since I had onboard GPS tracking.
When I checked the GPS on my laptop, I had nothing. ZERO. Like it didn't exist. Long story short, the flight was the last I saw of it.

@Tago-Mago The trident is definitely less "Gangsta" than the chefs knife.
