7 years and one day ago I made my first IH purchase, a pair of IH-634S.
And we've loved having you here, rocket.
My first IH purchase was also a pair of IH-634S (and the 2010 forum t-shirt and two coasters). That was on July 26, 2010, which I only know because I posted about it. No pictures, though, because photobucket sucks.
And yes, I still own the jeans…

Cadbury cream eggs are my childhood favorite! 'Bout 15 years ago corp shrank the size of them–to save money I assume--and they became more prone to cystalizing in the center--super lame. Coffee bags and tuna cans have shrunk too--cut 20% off the top, nobody will notice!

Is there a thread where there is discussion pertaining to how folks came across IH? I'd be interested to know the story of how you stumbled upon IH back in 2010 and 2011 given it was likely a much smaller entity and probably more difficult to discover.

What’s up Iron Heart Familia! Happiest of New Years to you all!!
I wanted to share that I’ll be participating in an event that funds researching cancer in children and thought that our beloved community would be a great place to start! Any tiny amount helps!!
I’ll be getting my head shaved Mid-March in solidarity with the young’ns. And I’ll also be carrying weight during the event, which is a ruck, with other people who will be fundraising and participating!
Again, thank you all for what you can do, and if you can’t donate (I know all too well the financial realities of today) please do me a solid and share the info! Much love to you all, and I will be sharing pictures and wearing Iron Heart at the event!

Man I am glad I waited to build a new PC because of this Meltdown/Specter Intel vulnerability… 2 months ago I almost dropped 600 on a new Intel processor. I have been reading about this and apparently AMD is not susceptible to this security flaw, so a Ryzen 7 would be a safe bet, I guess? What's the point of paying extra for a bleeding edge processor or phone if it's power is going to be gimped by 30% because of the new patch from the get go? Even everyone's Macs and iPhones are affected.

You are unlikely to see a 30% drop in performance consistently. In fact on a consumer computer you may not even notice at all, however that is just a software sticking plaster over the Meltdown flaw.
The Spectre flaw is a bit more of a beast and more or less all modern processors are affected in some way.
If there is any good to come out of this, which there needs to be; it will be that processor architecture is reengineered for a world where computers are interconnected by default and code can be hostile. Operating systems will need to be at least partly rewritten.
I know other eco systems are affected by this specific issue, but the whole Wintel thing is a bloated mess of legacy nonsense and lazy profit making.

Seems like a bugger of a problem so far. Especially for server based services and online games.
See the graph they posted that shows CPU usage.

For sure, if you run a Datacenter using Intel CPUs and can afford it, you will be going after Intel for recompsense.
