@HalfPastNever I’m 5’10”, 183 pounds, 43” chest, and wear a 33-35” inch jean in IH.  My shirt sizing is/has almost always been an XL and my preference is for the Western Cut’s in shirts.

What size and cut of shirt have you been buying?

@HalfPastNever let me start with saying that serge is a stubborn fabric to begin with, if i compare it to 12oz or even 18oz denim. But the points you are talking about would give me the thought that you have to size up. In anyway a fabric can feel stubborn or stiff but shouldn’t never restrict you to move comfortably. Size doesn’t say a think.. charts are key, i have L, XL and XXL. Measure your best fitting shirt in the IHUK way and compare those with the IHUK charts 🙂 i don’t wanna sound smart only try to give you advice mate!

Yeah, I like western cuts in large only but I'm really stubborn about shirts fitting trim and when I size up to an XL…the length is so long I would have to have the sleeves and body shorten by atleast 2 inches. If that can be done then I would do it. It just sucks you spend 330-375 on a shirt and need another 50 in hemming and most like won't be done by someone who can match factory quality.

Yeah I understand what you're saying. I try to match the proper chest size and go from there. As always the length is so long that if I size up, I need 2 inches from the sleeves and body length taken off and also the body is too baggy. I like trim fit clothing and I would need the whole garment altered.

Again, im just bummed that almost zero of the shirts fit proper and I'm an average guy.  Looking for solutions before I send yet another shirt back.

It sounds like IH is not the brand for you.  Try some other brands.  Brands tend to suit different body types.  No one brand can be all things to all men…..I love The Flat Head (and used to represent them) but I could never get one of their shirts to fit, I'd wear them and pretend they looked good, but I was only fooling myself (and giving others a giggle)....

Sounds like you’re resisting wearing a shirt that’s the right size for you. Try a size up or two, or try another brand

I’d recommend Indigofera as a very good Iron Heart brand alternative, when you can’t find your Iron Heart fit. Their shirts fit a little bit more like standard American sizing. I’m an XXL in IH and a Large in Indigofera.

I purchased one of these shirts secondhand, brand new with tags the black snaps version. How do I get the copper snaps upgrade?

I think you would have to send it into IHUK,and, obviously, cover the shipping. Depending on where you are in the world, there may be other issues as well.

Interesting, thanks for the info! So just mail the shirt in to IHUK and pay postage to have it mailed back to me? Maybe one of the IH staff can confirm @Giles @Alex

You might be able to arrange shipping and the proper way to fill out the customs forms through them as well. You’ll also have to pay for the snap upgrade.

Questions like this are better asked directly to shop@ironheart.co.uk.  But you'll need to pay shipping both ways and pay for the upgrade.  We'd prefer that you bought the shipping from us, so we can manage customs and duty (if you are outside of The UK).

I am wearing a medium in CPO over dyed (IHSH-293-OD) and it is a little tight in the shoulder and chest. This one seems to be smaller in the chest based on measurements. Should I go for a large in this?

@Zinc2162 Do you have a regular Iron Heart Shirt to compare to? In my experience, IH CPO shirts tend to be roughly one size larger than a regular IH shirt in the same tagged size, but that's not a hard and fast rule.

I find that the IHSH-23-OLV and the GRY and BLK tend to run a bit smaller and trim in the arms. I needed to upsize to an XXL in this shirt, but sometimes I can get away with an XL in some other Iron Heart shirts. I can typically wear an XL in a CPO if I'm using it like a shirt not a jacket.

In my opinion, if you're unsure, go up a size in the Serge. The XXL is perfect for me in the Military Serge. I think this is because the Serge material stretches less than denim and chambray fabrics, and can be less flexible in general. Does this make sense? I find other fabrics to be be more "forgiving"?

@Zinc2162 if it helps you. I wear a L in most UHF and less stiff shirts, and size M in the stiffer ones like denim shirts and the serge.
