G etc. have more experience than myself for sure, but in my opinion if you are happy with the waist pre-soak you shouldn't worry. My flat heads, which are notoriously difficult to stretch back, were snug in the waist at first and after a hot wash shrunk 2 inches. They stretched back lickity split, so imo only worry about how tight everything else is. The waist will stretch.

Thank you for all your advice guys! So from what I can gather I should hot soak them while wearing them and then if I ever wash them just wear them while damp so stretch them back out?

Wear it while washing to avoid shrinkage at waist. Then I would wash it again to be sure it will not shrink in the inseam and then get it hemmed if you haven't yet

I don't think we can give sensible advice until we know the brand and the denim….

So…..what sort of denim are we dealing with again?  😞

Made in England, clothed in Japan, fed in America and drunk in Belgium !

No I'm not, but the question is akin to "what are the best tyres to put on my bike?"

We need more data to give a considered response.

Yeah, kind of frustrating. Someone in the knife thread one time said "pick me a knife, GO!"

                        Errrr

                        More data is necessary

I know violence is not the answer, I got it wrong on purpose

My apologies, I'm using tap talk and in work currently so didn't read all of the replies correctly. It's a pair of Tenderloin T-Riders I got off eBay

And…...predictably the extra data does not help me, I have no experience of this denim.  I know that riffblastergeneral had/has a pair, maybe good idea to PM him....

My girlfriend quit a little while back and did it exactly as your brother is doing… Cold Turky, all I did was constantly tell her how chuffed I was with her and how well she was doing, she had attempted quitting a few times previously but the last time felt different, she REALLY WANTED to quit that final time and I think that's key....

Not sure if that was any help or not. Best of luck to your brother, hope he's successful!

yessir goodluck to brother Seul. I smoked heavily for 17 years and quited from one to the other day turkey style, good luck. get him into a nice hobby like denim or so 😉 in the first maybe two years of staying clean I tried to avoid smoker clubs etc. Nowadays its not a problem at all anymore and life is a lot fresher than back then.
but as Jord666 pointed out, you really want to do it, thats all you need 🙂
