John Wayne's Cuffs in Stagecoach 1939

I've been watching the John Ford and Howard Hawks films, both the westerns and the noir.  And I couldn't help but notice that the Ringo Kid aka John Wayne had tall cuff on his jeans.  Mighty fine, I say.  Also the real guy who leapt from the top of the stagecoach and onto the horses was named Yakima Canutt and he was one very badass cowboy.  Check out the pictures.

Nice leg twist and I like how narrow the selvedge seam seems relative to today's jeans–it makes sense that they would have wanted to minimize wasted fabric since they weren't showing off that a shuttle loom was involved in their jeans.

I think Hickory of some sort
