@Mizmazzle very clean set up. The warmth of a Marantz is so kind to the ears & soul. Here's my set up:
receiver: Marantz 2275
table: Marantz 6100
speakers: Dahlquist DQ-20s (if you're in the Portland, OR area I'm selling these - my wife is over how big they are...lame!!...holler at me and I'll give you a hell of a deal. they sound amazing, drink power and were just refurbished )

Project debut carbon evo is solid starter table. Moonstone needle is nice upgrade

The best sound is in your soul, and the room and the situation when listening. You can't do anything wrong with a Project or a Technics.

Direct-Drive:

Whatever money you have left I say you put it into a solid stereo system + preamp system. But that’s for another thread (Hi-fi)

Wish I had some good turntable recs. I went all in on vintage gear when I had my vinyl renaissance. I could probably get in on a convo around that side of things.
As mentioned before a Rega or AT is a solid choice to get the records spinning. But most of my turntable and amp/ receiver experience is with old pioneer, Marantz, and Luxman gear.
