Hard to get behind a brand that is price gouging like this. They already charge way more than what the cost of silver justifies with their name and build quality. They could get by with a smaller 5-15% increase to cover materials cost....but more that double!!? Come on!

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

I don't think this really has anything to do with the raw material cost. as noted, the price of the items has always been well above the $/oz of the item. Maybe this is rising labor costs, expansion, wanting to have better benefits for employees, or trying to transition to an even more premium brand. Who knows, only Josh and co I'd expect. This will certainly keep some of us riff-raff away from buying his stuff now though I'd expect.

Silver has gone up, but even for my heaviest pieces (wallet rig) it wouldnt be more than a couple hundred dollar increase.
I think you hit the nail on the head and they are setting their sites on the couture world.

I have a lot of their jewelry but I’m out if this is how they want to treat their loyal customers.

@Anesthetist concur with you 100%. They've gotten a lot of big name press/exposure on their items and have been dipping their toes into couture type events in Paris or Tokyo or whatever. There's way more money there for them. It is a business and while it doesnt endear me to them I also don't really blame them for wanting to go there.

You aren't wrong. Just for comparison, I use this Vogt money clip. Solid sterling and hand engraved by artists in old Mexico, and it's only $280. GAH is definitely operating on Rolex economics. California corporate tax, LA rent, and general demand account for most of the costs. I have and will continue to buy both, but finding alternatives keeps becoming more and more appealing.

@Anesthetist Same boat, I'm done with GAH at these new prices (is this ChromeHearts??). I'm thankful that IH doesn't price gouge like this. Self Edge has some items on their website at the normal prices. Scoop it up while it lasts.

We can all aim higher and start somewhere.

In "unrelated" news... I have several shirts with a GAH snap on the pocket that are now available for the low low price of $1500 each. (jk) 😂

GAH will be here in Paris at their showroom during Mens Fashion Week later this month. I look forward to seeing what is new.

@paris75009 This is true, however, Good Art has always placed a premium on their goods and most of that premium is baked into the labor, finish of the product, and costs of running a business in LA, not the price of silver. For example, let's say there's a Good Art piece that weighs 40 grams (1.42oz) and was priced at $1,000 using, an old silver price of $31.31/ounce the material cost for that product is about 4.5% silver and the rest of the price is labor/business expenses. Now with silver at $87.65/ounce that would bring the material price % to 12.5% without even marking up the bracelet. That's still an insane markup on material. I guarantee you if and when silver comes down, Good Art will not lower prices. Now I don't know the ins and outs of their business or financial picture. My main point is, Good Art already had massive markups on their pieces, I don't believe this increase in price was a necessity to keep their business alive, it's an opportunity to increase their profit margins.

We can all aim higher and start somewhere.

I had my sights on a Model 10. It was gonna be a stretch, but with the price increase, it’s now beyond my means (and common sense).
