Just in case our regular IH-526SV wasn't heavy enough, we are now making it from 25oz XHS denim. Some tweaks needed to finalise button placement due to the thickness of the denim.

The buttons are by no means set in stone, and there are likely to be other tweaks as this was such a brute to construct.

So, what has changed that IH now seems to be able to make jackets/vests from the XHS?

I think I remember before being told that it's just too damn thick to be possible.

It's the joining of the sleeves to the body with a felled seam that causes the issues.  Vests don't have sleeves

The 20oz IH-SE TypeIII was such a kick in the dick to break in @25oz it's gotta be an exercise in pain. I was recently reminded of this when I washed it for the first time. Thought I'd washed it once before; turns out I had not. Surprise!  :o

No sorry, it sounds like a simple thing to do, but it is not,  I have spoken about the impossibility of doing this in an efficient way many times.  Maybe someone can find a link to the reasoning.

I know this has been raised multiple times over the years, but given the popularity and availability of this shirt, would you reconsider your position on deposit/pre-orders? I know I'd be happy to pay a significant deposit to secure something I wanted

No.

Here's why.

We ask for pre-orders, we get the following orders:

S - 3
M - 6
L - 8
XL - 8
XXL - 4

We make those numbers and the sizing is a size too small.

We can thus fulfil:

XS - 3
S - 6
M - 8
L - 8
XL - 4
XXL - 0

So to avoid pissing people off (and I can tell you now, you would be a lot more pissed off with us if you had pre-ordered and then we could not fulfil), we have to over order, to ensure we can fulfil if the sizing comes out too large or too small.

So we get left with stock that we do not want, which means our cost base goes up and puts pressure on our prices across the board.

Anyone who says they can do pre-orders with clothing and not either piss customers off or increase their stock levels is talking through their arse.

Sorry, didn’t mean to create work, I’ve many many IH products and know that I’ve never seen a deposit scheme but was just asking on the off chance as I don’t want to miss out.
