It's certainly possible, but it's not something we want to do in the short term. It adds to the complication of the product page which is something we are not particularly keen to do.

It's not that creating the product page would be any more complicated than it is now. What I meant is that the product page would have to have extra functionality and thus would be more complex to view and navigate for the user.

i.e. we would need a call to action for "tell me when restocked" AND "tell me when low in stock".  My view is that there is no way a user can tell when something is restocked until after the fact, so letting them sign up to those email alerts is important.  But, a user who wants something, but wants to know that the stock levels are rather low, can (if they want it so much and can be bothered) monitor the product page.

I definitely monitor the product page of any item that I’m interested in but can’t buy,for whatever reason,when it goes live. I suspect I’m not the only one.

Indeed! Items I'm interested in are bookmarked and I check on them regularly.

It works on chrome, but at work and at home I could not get through to the main website because of that.

I got it a few weeks ago. You need to reset your browser cache/delete cookies.

Happy to be of help! There is something with the coding of the forum engine that causes this kind of thing to happen now and again. I’ve found this to be the effective solution.

and in the Wesco boots - I called the shop to tell them of an error on the T-shirt, wheel lovers page, as it showed all were available, but the Large I am after still isn't. Looks like the IT crowd will have a busy afternoon/weekend.

Every effort to remove an unnecessary step, like this roll over that lets us see what is in stock, wins hearts and minds.  It makes you feel like the company also wants it easier, that they are on your side.  The opposite is calling a big company that puts you on a computer voice and a menu–-you can't help but be infuriated and pretty much hate them.  You never feel that way with IH because the ethos of the company is that they want it to be as good for you as it is for them.  Maybe too many words here but I hope it makes sense.

That's very nice of you @profdbrk .  When I originally built the first shite in Dreamweaver), I tried to include all the things I loved about other websites that I used, and leave out all the stuff I hated. I wanted it to be as easy as possible for people to use, without pissing them off.  I am sure I got a lot wrong, but that is still our ethos.

I write a personal note of gratitude to all first-time customers, this idea came from one of those customers.  We'd sort of thought about it, but it never actually got to the top of the list, until I got that nudge…
