Not a massive amount, but it's a little uneven (which luckily I don't mind).  If I was to do it again, I'd probably use Mustang Paste….

It will be interesting to see if that affects the way the natural leather changes color. One of the nicest things about this leather is how it ages into that gorgeous dark honey color.

I know this was an experiment, but what would be the best practice for caring for this leather?

I think probably the occasional application of horse oil (mustang paste) with a sponge.  I'm also thinking that this may have been a better route to go than Obenaufs….

I don't know if this is true but I heard that you shouldn't use oil or paste on this type of leather until you let it get "tan." I heard that the oil will make it harder for the leather to let the sun darken it over time. Sort of like sunblock for your jacket. I don't know how much I believe that but it seems like it could be a possibility. If only there was a fourm where I could ask such questions!

My view is that the hide is so packed full of tannage that it'll make zippo difference…...But, then I don't know anything anyway....

My experience has been that oil accelerates tanning.

Sat down with Mr "Heavy Nell" (on the right) and Mr "Heavy Ounce" (on the left) last night.

Mr Nell makes most of our shirts including the UHF's, Mr Ounce makes most of our denim stuff, including the 12oz denim workshirts.

We talked about how to sort out the buttonholes on the 12oz denim workshirts and we believe we have a solution.

12oz indigo
12oz overdyed indigo
12oz super black (JC works again)

If demand is sufficient, we will do 12oz indigo with tonal stitching too…and possibly 12oz black warp/cream weft.

I think the wabash is unaffected by this issue, due to the nature of the twill @Aetas

Wabash has never had the problem that the denim does….
