        Hi there,
It’s Cocobolo. The top is Adirondack spruce, the neck is figured mahogany, fretboard is ebony and the binding is figured Koa.

I actually got a new Les Paul in last week. Will post some pictures later.

Hi there! I just saw this question. The dimensions are similar to a J-45. But with a shorter scale length - like original Southern Jumbos.

@Jett129 somewhere I've got a copy of this Marshall poster signed by Jim Marshall himself.

                  Now it goes to twenty

It would be fun to get it signed by Nigel Tufnel/Christopher Guest, though I'm not sure how I could wrangle that.

                    Even shorter than 24.75in? Every J-45 I've played/owned has been 24.75.
Enjoy it, it looks amazing and I bet it sounds and plays great!

And I totally forgot to post some pictures of the new Les Paul, so here we go. Gibson R8, Iced Tea.
This one and the recent 335 are great examples, feels like I got very lucky with both of them.

@AdamJ Thank you! I bought it completely blind so I was quite happy, and surprised, when I opened the case. If you get a chance I would definitely recommend trying out the recent Gibson CS 335s. Whatever they're doing these days they seem to have really nailed it with these.

I’ve not played a Gibson j-45. Santa Cruz makes three slope shouldered dreds: the VJ, the VS and the RS. The VJ has a 25.375 scale length while the VS has a 24.75 scale length. I always assumed the VS was based on the Vintage Southern while the VJ was based on a standard j-45 and they had those respective scale lengths. Guess I was wrong. I went with the VS because of the shorter scale length. I actually liked the sound of the RS even better. It’s based on the Roy Smeck model. But it was too large for me to hold comfortably. So I went with the VS.
                                Cheers,

Most of my favourite guitars, electric and acoustic, seem to be 24 3/4".
I remembered playing a Santa Cruz Firefly many years ago (which was great), and wondered if maybe your guitar had the same 24" scale or something similar. I also have a Collings Baby with a 24 1/8" scale, which is just about the perfect couch guitar.

Time to do some playing, not a whole lot that beats playing/practicing guitar in my opinion.

Hi guys, it's been a while since I didn't post something so here's my '72 les paul deluxe conversion to humbuckers made a long time ago. I bought it in a really bad shape and since I'm an occasional luthier, i tried my best to give her a second youth. So here's the before/after

                                        Before:

                                        Screenshot_20250719_165640_Vinted.jpg
                                        1000049188.jpg

And after sanded it a lot to return to the original varnish, I put some Joe Bonamassa's SD custom shop pickup, some '59 parts, all the electronics redone also and now here it is.

                                        1000050157.jpg

It's one of those which when you try it it's like there's something special happening, so happy to have it in my collection, for sure the best guitar I ever owned.
