I tried the C3 on at Kanreki but @Graeme said I was going full viking and that ruined it for me (jk Graeme
).Truth is I'm torn. The C3 is a little over the top, but not as over the top as the IHV-28. The IHV-28 is absolutely glorious but the C3 maybe has a longer shelf life. And @Giles , saying buy both isn't an acceptable answer, but only because I can't ::)

my vote is for the C3 but only because you're in Norway and it looks warm as hell. I think you'll get more use out of the C3 than the 28

I actually say get the V-28.
Here is my take - you can always get a C3 made custom if needed. And the V-28 is a seasonal

I remember you trying on the C3. It was fantastic. And if the wife is going to be mad anyway, make it worthwhile by getting the truly bonkers vest.

She might not even notice the v-28. You will just blend in with the background.
C3 will get noticed. -
Here's the photo of @neph93 in the C3. It is full-on Viking Kitten, and he should consider it for that reason.
That said, I agree with @Appfaff that the IHV-28 is endangered, and won't be repeated.
Alternatively, get the C3 now, and then pick up an IHV-28 if it ends up in the Outlet.

I too remember you tried on the C3 and it looked great on you. I would go for C3.

I like the 28. The camo pattern is a bit like dazzle camouflage of WWI. I don't want another vest. Repeat as necessary.
Here in Pa. no one would look twice at the 28. You might get some sideways looks with the C-3. :-\ -

The C-3 vest is so manly, and versatile. I'm more of a fan of sizing it snug and wearing it under a jacket though, or just over a long sleeve t-shirt in less cold times.
(For those that don't know, these were originally designed as a mid-layer pieces, intended to be worn under a flight jacket.)
