Also, on the ongoing job hunt front, I had an interview for a tech lead role today.
The guy I spoke with (technical PM) turned me down because I didn't know a couple of libraries (RxJava and Dagger), which are the new hotness in Android. His argument was that as a lead, I had to know more than my underlings.
It's not that hard for an engineer to learn a new API, and this was a permanent position…

A few weeks ago I had to drive my daughter to the in-laws, so she can attend the children’s carnival there, together with her brother.
I drove there to drop them off, drove back home and returned a few hours later to pick the kids up when it looked like this all the time. No biggie.
So seeing the drama in the UK just leaves me shaking my head in irritation. One would think that a nation that is famous for its sub optimal weather is not so easily set in panic by a few snowflakes.
