I wish it weren’t so oppressively hit here so I could wear my bibs. 🥵 Not too hot for ☕️ though.

I’ve gotten bored with Chemex and pour overs so back to the Aeropress! This am with a recipe by Simon Derutter of Seul-land.

This AM I used a dark roaster Columbian made by Sump Coffees for use in beer made by Perennial. Top notch!

Some great set ups on this thread.

I work away from home and coffee with your colleagues is one of the highlights of the day. The rig has slowly become more coffee-centric as the international crew have brought beans from all over the globe for everyone to try. I have brought a selection of beans from my local roasters in Birmingham, England.

We have standard bean to cup machine for ultimate ease of use. Temperature controlled kettle, Picopresso, Imons milk frother, scales, 2 x Aeropress, a Wilfa electric grinder, Timemore hand grinder, and a Mokka pot.

The trick with the bean to cup machine is the beans, big difference between standard (rubbish) Lavazza beans and some better quality stuff. The aeropress gets a lot of use.

We are currently scouring the local for sale ads looking for a cheap workshorse espresso machine. The good news is that it looks like a lot of the locals buy quite fancy set ups but don't really know how to use them so they get sold on pretty quickly.

@QuantumMechanic What a lovely espresso machine you have. The decent is on the wish list one of one of my colleagues, he already has a Lelit Bianca but is seriously looking at the Decent for the flavour profiling it offers.

@ddtrash how do you find the Wilfa? I like grinding by hand (I feel I’ve earned my coffee that way) but I sometimes wonder if going electric would make life easier. My usual coffee dealer sells a couple of models including the Svart (looks like that’s what you have), so it’s already lurking in my head as an option.

@ARNC It is indeed a Wilfa Svart grinder.

Great budget machine for coarser grinds for French press, aeropress etc but struggles to grind fine enough for espresso. We use the Timemore small hand grinder which is better dialed for a finer grind.

If fine grind for Espresso is your thing then I would suggest you look elsewhere.

@ddtrash thanks - really helpful. I don’t necessarily need a very fine grind as I don’t do espresso at home. At the moment it’s either French press or Walküre, but at some point I’ll probably get a siphon too.

@steelworker I hear you with regards to the watch thread.

I have been very lucky with my watch collection and have a few nice collectible pieces. This has maybe moved my interest over to the coffee set up, something else to learn about.

I have had a new kitchen in the house so a fresh coffee set up is on the cards, unlikely to feature Slayer or Weber though.

In the meantime I will continue to enjoy and take inspiration from this thread.

New to this wonderful coffee thread, but pouring over for the last 20 years or so 🙂
Way before I entered the magic world of selvedge denim (denim love at large is still earlier to me, like I was 10 y/o, Paninari time in my childwood).

As coffee is concerned I settled on a weekly rotation of V60 to Kalita, Chemex for the weekend days.
I source coffee all over Europe, but mainly from local Italian specialty coffee roasters such as Bugan Coffee Lab or Gardelli, and His Majesty the Coffee.

This is a Rwanda Gitwae 504, Honey processed, filtered with a Kalita. Hand ground with a Helor 101.

                                    Enjoy your coffee! 🙂
