Whilst visiting Giles yesterday we happened to discuss speacialist denim repairers. I've used this guy on Levis Vintage and found the quality of repair, service and cost superb. I definitely recommend him. He's based in Manchester:

Anybody have positive or negative reviews of Denim Doctors in LA or Denim Therapy in NY? Need a hem re-chainstitched, if possible. Either of these places do that?

nope, Simon, I wouldn't use 21oz on 21oz for repair, just too bulky..the reason we put the patches on the outside is that Alex wears his jeans cuffed …

What is the best way to go about this? A patch sewn on from underneath?

Yes on reflection I think it's fine, just didn't expect it so soon. Anyway it's a good excuse to buy another pair  😉

Seriously from the second pic looks like it's just happening at the front? I think the fast hooks on your boots are doing it.

Options 1. new boots  2.cuff your jeans 3. take your boots to a cobbler and change hose hooks to blind/exposed eyelets.

i have exactly the same fraying on my IHs from the Iron Rangers.
it's the fast hooks. (front of the hem is above, btw). but I won't bother/repair it.
