Holy shit how could I forget this gem that I picked up at the weekend as well?
It’s a lunchbox from the 1950s designed by a Canadian miner. The story goes that he was waiting for the train to take him down into the mine and didn’t have a seat so he used his lunchbox which promptly collapsed. He went home and took it upon himself to design a lunchbox that you can sit on. I picked it up for $3!

@Inorganic that’s beautiful
-
@steelworker RIGHT!!! I Have come to learn that they have a bit of a following. It’s one motherfucker of a lunchbox. I can tell you that.
-
Whoa, I thought someone made it in his garage!
It beats the shit out of Igloo .
And you can hit somebody with it when provoked -
@steelworker ha!!! When I saw it at the market that is what I thought too!! If you look at their website they make it with the simplest of tools: shear, brake & riveter. Gotta love it
-
If that's the lunchbox, I can only dream of the lunch

Cold weather camping gear completed. I scored these A-10 trousers which were used by WWII pilots before pressurized cabins were a thing. Alpaca lining from the waist to the knee and wool below that. These appear to be unworn and were made in 1944!! I’m just so stunned by their quality.

@Inorganic your an unstoppable thrift machine right now

@GraemeE haha!! From one thrift hound to another, your comment means the world to me! I often joke with my buddies that at my funeral mourners will be given a leaflet at the door. It will be a catalog of all of my thrifts, a table summarizing what I paid versus MSRP. The total at the end will be the summation of my life.

No images, But Mark my antique dealer mate (Mad Mark is what me and P call him), went into a thrift store just north of here a couple of weeks ago. Came out with a small Chippendale era cupboard which he gave £108 for.
Sold it over the phone before he got home for £2,500.....

Time to change his name to Shrewd Mark

@twin The one from the lunch box story?! That's rad - is there a sign giving any info about it?
-
@Inorganic Look up big nickel. There were lots of mines here.

Thrifted this wool western shirt. It's super fitted and a bit long, fits like an Ship John in my opinion. But the best part (other than the price) is the tag. Thank you bad ass grannie, wherever you are out there. I appreciate it very much!
