I'll second that. It's a totally unique piece of clothing. I own IH, Indigofera, Flat Head, PBJ, Studio D'Artisan, etc... it's in a category of its own.

Check my post way earlier in the thread and you'll see a pic of the weave next to an UHF by UES. Side by side, up close you see how tight the weave is. UES UHF and IH UHF are very similar in fabric weave so if you have an IH UHF you'll be able to see what we are talking about.

@Denimhead-0 how do you find the 14oz kersey to compare to the tricotine in terms of weight, how they drape, and warmth? Obviously the handfeel is totally different, but curious about other thoughts in general.

But therein lies the issue. It's sooooo different in feel that you can't compare the two. You can compare the weave and when you see how absolutely tight and close the weave is on the tricotene you start to understand just how different the material is. I don't know anyone who is lucky enough to grab one of these that isn't in love with it. Good luck brother...if you see one, don't hesitate, grab it. You'll be happy you did. Oh...and make no mistake, the UES UHF is not a tricotene. I just used the UHF comparison so when you see the UHF next to the tricotene you have an idea of what the difference is.

@edgarallanpoe I think I’m more confused now haha but thank you for your effort. I am for sure buying a Tricotine as soon as humanly possible. And an Untucked!! Both grails I’ve been salivating over every time I see em on this forum.

@pechelman I haven’t really worn my Tricotine yet. Only trying it on a few times (this fall is it’s time finally!)
But my initial take on your question is that Kersey is a tighter, warmer/ less breathable weave. Weight wise, the Tricotine is thicker and heavier, but seems to be a bit more breathable.

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

Kersey isn’t as comparable a fabric to a corduroy imo. the Tricotine appears most similar to close up pics I’ve drooled over when looking at the ihsh-64 thread. like a thick Jersey material that somehow drapes softly yet behaves like a twill in that it still holds stacks/creases for fades and roping

Tricotine feels more like a Shacket vs Kersey more a comfy shirt. Tricotine warmer for sure

@flannel-slut yeah. It’s got a lot of similarities to a 64. The 64 has a smoother hand feel on the outside and brushed (like a low loft bath towel) on the inside. Where the Tricotine is not brushed and has the same hand feel inside and out. The Tricotine is a touch thicker than the 64…but the rigidness/ softness factor of the two are close with the 64 being softer (like an IH sweatshirt cut into a western)

I haven’t worn it during winter cold so, I may be wrong. Small sampling size during a few cold September days. Feels warmer for sure.
