Just heard Rolex discontinued the Pepsi. Man, RIP to the hopes of everyone sitting on waitlists. I find it shocking they would stop making something that people are begging for, but hey, that’s never stopped them before. This one was a gift from the wife and a really crazy story, so it’ll never leave me, but the aftermarket hike has been atrocious this week.

@Go-For-Chill I read that Rolex has difficulties with the Pepsi ceramic bezel, ranging from fragility, inconsistency in the colours between batches, and having a bleed where the red and blue meet.

Rolex didn't really come up with anything that exciting at Watches and Wonders this year. The new Yacht-Master II is clever, but the original was never (as far as I can tell) a popular model. But I do like the celebration dial.

The Tudor Monarch, despite not being a fully-fledged Rolex, also appeals.

What caught my eye this year were the IWC Pilot's Venturer Vertical Drive, though it's a big chonky at 16 mm thick, the TAG Heuer Monaco Evergraph, and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronometre.

Most of the other releases felt like either existing models in new colours, or limited runs priced for the plutocrats amongst us.

I’ve been a little disconnected the last couple years from what Rolex has been doing. I passed on a couple watches in 2024 and, not surprisingly, haven’t heard from my AD since.

Sounds like I probably should’ve pushed harder to get the Pepsi, even though I really wanted it on the Oyster and not the Jubilee.

I might wear the G-Shock today

This is great... My modest collection is bottom right but keep eyeing up the GShock and simple digitals. When I find the right Made in Japan one I will Fun to be around telling everyone.

These are my two favorite I’ve seen from this years releases.

Tudor Monarch. I’m a sucker for a California dial and odd colored dials. Also, the hands and the small seconds are pretty great.

IWC Ceralume Perpetual Calendar. I want this real bad, but no shot I’d pay what they are asking. Maybe one day on the aftermarket

First off, this chart was 100% made by an Invicta collector. lol Absolutely the most out-of-place brand on that chart.

Tudor needs to be moved to the bottom half of that chart. Mostly because owners always bring up Tudor’s parent company in every conversation about their watch. Tudor is awesome, and can stand on their own.

“Casio” should written in stretched out font, all the way across the top. G-Shock people are cool and span the whole spectrum of finances. 🤙🏼

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this, but Grand Seiko have shrunk their Ushio 300 Diver to a 40.8 mm diameter and slimmed it down to 12.9 mm, added a micro-adjust to the bracelet, given it 300 metres of water resistance, and fitted their UFA Spring Drive, which is accurate to within twenty seconds per year.

Hodinkee and Monochrome have more details.

I saw this in Japan recently. It's definitely a step towards the real deal despite the twitter logo.

My prediction (with no knowledge) is that within one, at worst two years, they will remove the prospex logo. They are currently cutting their nose to spite their face and at some point management will stop this. This watch is an icon and having some numpty marketing on the face is a travesty.

Mind the price is now 35 to 40% more than the original, which is getting into Grand Seiko territory.

However, I would take this any day over a submawanker.

Hopefully they'll offer the new model in that colourway in the near future.
