@Go-For-Chill. Maybe smaller by tag size in the waist. Example my tag 38 634s has a 38 waist, 14.3 thigh and 10.2 knee. My tag 38 samurai 3000vx has a 37.5 waist 15 thigh and 10.8 knee.

There are variations in every run, but by the book, the 634 are wider in the waist and thigh, and the basically the same in the hem for a given size.

I also have both 634 and 3000. Mine feel very similar, but if forced, I would have to say the 634 feel bigger. My 634 seat feels slightly more roomy and the hem feels wider.

Mine is a 3000vx maybe that makes a difference but is noticeably wider than my 634.

@stitchdown.shell damn! This color way is so sick!!

I actually prefer them to be unbrushed. I feel it makes them more wearable in a range of temps. UHFs can be too warm for me a lot of the time. Also the unbrushed makes that twill feel denim adjacent in some ways. Perhaps leading to better fade potential??

These are just my observations. Love these flannels though. @Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot showed me the light. Now I want more, More, MORE!!! Ahhhh hahahaha

@Mizmazzle All excellent points. I tend to not wear flannels in warmer months so this is good news. @Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot is the man and has shown me so many new brands and he really knows his stuff. Has helped me out a lot. Cheers.

I normally go 25 and as such 3XL in IH. My Samurai is 2XL. Something about the fit - yes its slim but seems to work all the same. Its probably the best cut of all my flannels.

Edit: That said the western ones come in a 3XL and are 25 according to the charts.

Is anyone already having experience with the "S510XX21OZII - 21oz CHO-KIWAMI Selvedge Denim"? How does this compare to the 634S 21 from IH? From the measurements, I see that the Samurai runs a bit wider. Does this extra bit of width give a boxy feeling?

@the246guy. They are similar. Generally watch the waist measurement as Samurai tends to run a little smaller in the waist for the same tag size. The thigh and knee in general should be a bit more spacious than a 634.

@Go-For-Chill i'm supremely tempted by the S3000XX17oz-SDS, I've been thinking about it ever since I tried it on at self edge months ago, and if I've ruminating this long it probably means I should just buy the damn things. Have you gotten much shrink in the inseam or stretch in the waist with the murasame fabric? It seems like slubby and neppy fabrics stretch a bit more than normal denim but I might be wrong. How do you like your pair?

I’ve never measured them, so I can’t offer anything scientific. Just off feel, I’d say they did loosen a bit in areas that get a lot of stretch. The texture in the fabric smooths out a bit. However, the waist feels about the same as when I bought them.

FWIW, I soak and wash them regularly, then hang dry. I always buy jeans that fit great in the fitting room, then don’t worry about care instructions or shrinkage too much. I figure if they become unwearable then they just weren’t meant for me.

This was them hang drying yesterday, almost fully dry.
