We all do. If I may speak for myself, I'm not so much interested in your clothes, but in you and your lives. I know the clothes, of course, but what I've gotten to know about the people here over the years is extraordinary. You don't need to see faces for that, ok. But you know what I mean. Just my two (euro) cents.
-
I don't particularly like pictures of myself (especially not looking straight at the camera, smiling, hence I'm always looking one way or t'other) but I found the pictures look odd if I blank my face out. So you get to see it, for better or worse.
-
I think it’s something you get used to, although I’m sure we all have moments when we see a different person looking back at us from pictures than the one we’re used to seeing in the mirror. Possibly the same thing with our voices. I dictate a lot at work and when I started it was very uncomfortable hearing the playback. Now I’m fine with it.

@goosehd I think there are multiple things at play, here, but most of them have to do with privacy.
Internet forums are VERY public. Once we post our faces on them, we aren’t in control of how this particular venue displays our posts, and who gets to see them. Anyone with an internet connection in the world, can see them. Even the horrendous Meta suite of social media platforms offer users some control of who can view our content. Allegedly, anyway.
Especially now that AI can barf up anything just using a picture of us—I get the caution.
However, my extremely technologically challenged and mostly uninformed position is: as soon as we are using a cell phone and/or posting pics anywhere on the internet, or cloud, somebody can see it.
Efforts to hide myself on a forum dedicated to the friendships I’ve built around this very niche obsession with clothes don’t interest me, but others may feel differently.
-
If someone wants to make an AI imagine of my face on a UFC middle weights body, I’m good with that

-
@goosehd Happy?

-
@northsouthdenimguy happy either way…but yes happy! Great picture and love to see the humour.
-
The funny part is I’m so uncomfortable that I’m clenching my fist
️ -
@northsouthdenimguy you should hear my wife trying to get me to smile in a picture…

I want to drive this point in...It doesn't matter if you guys show your face or not. I personally like it and feel as @endo stated, but know that people may have their own reasons to post their face of not. I just want to thank you guys for the effort you make and know that it is appreciated.
Thank you.

I blame it on my mostly Scandinavian, German/Austrian heritage and Midwestern upbringing. Add Lutheran to the mix and it’s basically a perfect storm of emotional restraint, passive-aggressive politeness, and a deep belief that enjoying things too openly is a character flaw
