            Yeah they fade.

            It's a subtle fade but it's a fade.

              The denim is very forgiving

Are all of the 21 oz. denims woven at the same tension as the flagship? Do they thusly behave similarly in terms of stretch, breathability, and feel?  I'm guessing no, on account of the variation in dyeing, thread types, etc…

But I'm human, so I'm usually wrong.

I have the grey the over dyed and  normal 21oz and would say they are all pretty much the same.

Haraki designs them from choice of cotton an up, so all he 21oz variations all start life the same way. Given that its the tension in the weave (or rather lack of) that decides stretch, they all behave pretty much the same because with the exception of the dye, they are. I'm rocking the new black/beige weft 21oz sample at the minute and it behaves exactly the same as the regular 21oz. So did my SBG BB's.

So far my V&S 21OZ SBG seems different/not as soft as the normal one washed SBG. Haven't worn them that much yet,but still surprisingly crunchy.

The 21oz Superblack denim feels pretty different than the regular 21oz denim. Much more rigid, a touch less breathable too but that part might be my imagination. Stretch-wise they seem similar but it's hard to tell for sure because the fit on mine isn't particularly tight anywhere.

The 21oz non-selvedge superblack (and the 21oz non-selvedge indigo) is woven on projectile looms, not shuttle looms  They are completely different from the 21oz selvedge denim family, which are all essentially the same warp and weft construction, but are all woven on different looms, so the type of dye and dyeing process that the warp is subject to  and the idiosyncrasies of each individual loom (and service state) will create subtle difference in the characteristics  of the finished denim

Thanks, Giles! This makes perfect sense, and now I know I'm not crazy thinking the Superblack 21oz feels totally different than the regular 21oz.

I recently picked up a pair of these. They are basically new and worn very little (if at all). I love the color. Almost brown looking in certain light.

This denim has lately been discussed in some other threads and
@thomasnunally has described it rightly and beautifully a couple of years back. The colour is not gray. Its silver. And much much more. When new its quite boring but within wear there will be more than fifty shades.

The most interesting denim I own to be for sure @madmonday

Fading changes from day to day. When I take them out of the washer, it looks like I have washer marks. A week later they are gone. Certain spots fade purplish grey, some grey, and the belt fades are a brownish grey, but then in a different light they still look black.

Right now I am wearing a freshly washed pair with what looks like tons of washer marks and most of my old whiskers, etc gone. Every week is like a new experience.

So, I think I get what you are saying. They don't remind me very much of normal denim.

It's very interesting, no doubt. When new it looks like a slightly lighter shade of the 21 SBG denim. I think the only difference between them is that the GR has a grey warp and the SBG a black one. To be exact both denims have a black reactive dyed weft which won't fade IIRC. Maybe the difference was not enough to keep them around besides the popular SBG.

Never got so many compliments on a pair of jeans as I did when I wore these.
