I don’t think I dig it lol. I feel like the color of this vest is just a bit too bold for this to be worn daily. If I would’ve went blue wabash or something it probably would look best.

@worn2fade Since I got my first one, a few years ago now, I don't think I've gone more than a day without wearing one. First of all, it helps me cope with my extreme thinness, and secondly, the convenience of having four extra pockets has become indispensable. I have the two Wabys, the Sashiko, the Hickory, and the Duck, and honestly, I love them all. In terms of texture and color, the Duck, along with the Sashiko, is my favorite. I usually wear them under my CPO or Western pants, and I really like wearing them under a Hanley or a T-shirt.

@worn2fade I think it looks great on you dude. You may have "color shock". You don't have to wear it every day either.

@worn2fade i agree with what the others have said. looks absolutely cool over a tee or the tucked western. otherwise - not so much. in the picture of the backside over the tee - is the vest buttoned up? looks a bit large in the back.

@tody yeah man, I think I’m going to return this one. I really wanted it to work out on top of an untucked western but it just looks a bit too off for me in the back.

& no sir, the vest was unbuttoned in that picture. When the vest is buttoned up it fits amazing front & back. I’m assuming with time the fabric will ease up and it looks big cause it’s a bit boxy currently. But like I said, I’ll probably return this one. Still pondering it.

@worn2fade take this advice for what you want, but anything I’ve ever forced to make happen over the years, ends up not being used.

@goosehd basically my wife’s point as well.

                  And I quote..

“Babe, are you actually going to wear this? You don’t wear light colors, especially not brown.”

I guess I just got too excited to try out duck for the first time, but the truth is.. I’m just a denim man.

This vest appears to be cut much slimmer than the Olive 12oz Duck Canvas Hunting Vest. For example an XL is 21.4" vs. 23" P2P for the Olive vest.

I own only one vest (the Olive Duck Canvas Hunting Vest) and I am confused about how to pick vest sizes vs shirt sizes as the vests generally tend to be cut much slimmer than their respective shirt sizes. Without having the luxury of trying on the vest, how do you choose the correct size? What is the key measurement that you go by?

@MarkNo I go by the PtP (chest) measurement.

@MarkNo they are not cut much slimmer, at least in the p2p, which is usually the critical measurement with vests. The differences are due to the shape of the cut. The bigger arm holes mean the p2p on the work vests traverse the body a lot lower down, under the widest part of the chest.

My XL is comfortable on me, albeit a little more roomy than I’d like now, after recent weight loss. I would go for an L now, the same as my hunting vest. I strongly suspect that if you go with the same size as your hunting vest, you’d be good.

@neph93 Many thanks for your advice. Comparing the pictures of the two vests I see what you mean about the arm hole openings going lower on the Brown Duck vest compared to the Olive Hunting vest.

Comparing the measurements of the two vest in XL, the opening (waist) of the Brown Duck is a touch slimmer (21.4 vs 22.6") and shorter in front (25.6 vs 26.4") than the Olive Hunting Vest.

I guess there is only one way to find out...
