I read your version as - you were thankful to have spent 4 years on a sub and did not wear a crew neck (which you may not have been thankful about)

I read my version as - You spent 4 years on a sub (which you may not have been thankful about) and luckily never had to wear a crew neck

What a difference word placement can make! What a language 🙂

What I meant was, I didn't mind working on a submarine, but I would not have enjoyed having to wear a turtleneck sweater.

So yeah, I think your version is best!

That being said, I'm glad the submarine force is completely voluntary (to which I un-volunteered), because if they ever made me go back I would go kicking and screaming.

You might have been, but it actually made me stop and think about what I wrote. Your version was much more appropriate.

My biggest regret is not enlisting in the navy. But dang, a submarine. That's hard core.

I find myself to be pretty adaptable, and the close quarters just meant better friendships. The guys I served with are like brothers to me, and we'll be friends for life.  I was a cook on the boat, and quickly found that caring about my job and taking care of the crew would serve me quite well, and set me up for the future. Being underwater has its own unique challenges but I wouldn't trade my experiences for anything. That being said, I'm glad it's over and I don't ever want to do it again 🙂  If you ever want to know more about submarine life, I'm always willing to share.

Just adding a few more semi-precious metal/stone snaps could add a whole other level of awesomeness to IH shirts. It's just one more thing to be passionate about and one more thing to collect.

You and me both G. I've considered getting into silversmithing to make my own. That's how few there are available on the market. I know a silversmith from Arizona and he travels back there on occasion to find the good turquoise in person because that sort of thing is really hard to find on the internet.

Not sure if this idea has been floated before, but would it be possible to make a black and white check flannel and then dip it in indigo to create an indigo/black check flannel?

It's possible.  But, I'd prefer a black yarn/indigo yarn weave, that cuts out the need over-dying…..
