WESCO-MRLOU-NATH - Wesco® - 10" Horsehide Engineer Boot - Natural. The "Mister Lou"
-
@j6550 Might be a bold statement but I think its a Maryam thing... Been hearing a fair bit of mixed opinions about Maryam horsehide from Wesco lovers over the world, particularly about their quality/quality control of hides (or lack of).
One thing I've noticed is that I keep seeing Maryam leathers coming up on Wesco's discounted section with leather imperfections, and this exact spec (Natural Maryam horsehide MrLou), they have a few pairs sat on the discounted section as we speak...
This might have just been a one off thing for a particular batch, and I am in no way trying to give Maryam a bad name, for people that may have had good experience with Maryam or know stuff that we don't, but I am just sharing from what I have gathered related to the pair in question.

@kaacy1721 that's interesting to hear...I have noticed a trend on the discounted list too....not necessarily Mister Lou but Natural Maryam Tannery Leather. Just want to add that from the inside of the shaft it does feel like I could poke a hole through using my finger pad if I used some moderate pressure. I don't think it's possible to do that in other parts of the shaft.
-
Just here to give an update. I exchanged some emails with Chris Warren from Wesco and with the guys from Iron Heart I feel good about keeping these now.
-
@j6550 - I have a similar mark from a leather tool (farther up the boot) on the back of my olive petrolio (sp?) Mr. Lou’s from TSV and because it’s not a part of the boot that has to flex / stress, I’ve never had a problem - been wearing them for ~2 years now. I wouldn’t stress about it. Take a picture send it to Wesco and if it’s an issue in the future they can likely find a fix. Just don’t play with it / make it worse

-
@Kjunx Yep that's what I did. I'm definitely not messing with it bc it'll probably get worse.
I don't even think about it anymore. -

Couple of weeks of mild wear, love m!
-
@Larkens looking great buddy, can't stop thinking about natty horsehide
-
@FlavourFade Thanks! I get that, I couldn't either... look where it got me
haha. -

Small update in the setting sun yesterday evening -
@Larkens How did your heel slip start, how is it now, after how many wears?
-
@indigostiff not much slip brand new. Got even better after a couple of weeks. My boss boots have a little bit of slip, the Lou grips my feet even better. Lucky guy, I know.
Edit: got my last Christmas. So couple of months of wear. Mixed in rotation with my boss boots.
