I apologise in advance, I am sure this horse has been beaten to death in some thread or another, but I have not been able to find any post which matches my dimensions.

I am 5'7" (~170cm) man, weighing roughly 65 kg. I measured my other jackets and I am getting a shoulder size of 19.3" and sleeve length of 25.5".

Essentially, some measurements fall in L category and some in XL category. Has someone of my dimensions purchased an Iron Heart Selvege 21 oz jacket? Which dimension did they buy?

I'm 1m93 and 83kg, I'm an XL in almost all my IH jackets, I would go with an L all day if I where you.

You’ll have to decide which measurements are most important to you and make your decision based on that. I would recommend the following order: shoulders, chest, sleeve length, length, everything else.

Even if someone else has your exact same height and weight, your mass will be distributed differently.

Eventually you’ll find certain staff and forum members that usually wear the same size as you and can use that as an extra data point in your decision.

@babbupandey I don't own the 21oz jacket you're looking at but own the 12oz Whipcord Modified Type III Jacket. If you check the measurements, they're close in size, but chest slightly smaller with mine.

I am also 173cm (5'8'') and 65kg (144lbs), 36'' chest and I chose the large in my jacket. I wanted to wear it with layers under like a hoodie (a bit tight with it under) or a button up shirt (perfect). Sleeves are a tad long but I can live with that. Once I wear it more the sleeves with crease and shorten I'm sure.

I'd suggest you get a large if you plan to layer or a medium if you want a slimmer look.

            Good luck.

Lately I find shoulders are the most important for me, especially if it’s not a bi swing type jacket. Since type IIIs are not, they can be really snug in that measurement when I cross my arms. So I’ll echo that shoulders are probably my no1, chest a close no2.

I’ll also add that I have tried the 21oz jacket before and found it quite roomy. This of course can vary from batch to batch, so best to just follow the current chart. Felt it worth noting, though.

In addition to the excellent advice above, you have to decide how you like to wear your jackets/clothes. I like a bit of room by and large, so I generally size up in most IH products.

I’m a firm believer that if clothes are made from good patterns, (which Iron Heart are) they will look good on a person even if they are a size too large.

That said, I like to use the staff measurements to compare against my own and see what size to choose accordingly. Then I pay close attention to how they are wearing the item.

With jackets, I’ve found the Pit to pit (chest) is the single most important measurement to me. The others all also play a role, but if a jacket is too tight in the chest, I won’t get my wear out of it. YMMV.

Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. I really liked the look of @stichdown.shell -- thanks for those photos. I am going to buy a large. I can't wait to post my photos once I get my jacket.
