@Bridger Yes! At the moment you still find a lot of film types on the market, but sometimes the price is becoming crazy!

@Marc2706 - yeah, I can imagine everything related to film is expensive these days.

I feel there is something about B&W photos shot with film vs digital, which I don't really feel with colour. What are your thoughts @Marc2706?

@Bridger in my opinion nothing beats film when you have a good natural light. And for sure it is just a mental thing but my heart is more attached to analog photos than to digital ones even though digital images can be edited that they look almost similar to film. But with film I appreciate the result more

@Marc2706 - it does feel a little like the vinyl vs CD debate.

I do appreciate the effort required to get a perfect shot with film, given the reduced ability to post-produce the image.

I remember being happy if I got 1 or 2 good shots in a roll of 36. The cost of film and production makes the each press of the shutter more considered.

              I bounce between a Sony A1 and a Fuji X100VI.

The Fuji caused me start carrying a camera much more than I ever did with the Sony, and as the man said, “the best camera is the one you have with you.”

There are many other reasons I think the X100 is great and why I think it helps you become a better shooter, but ultimately, if it makes you take a camera with you more places, that’s all you really need to know …and it’s just plain fun to use.

I have my Fuji set to jpeg only, that way I can’t reframe in post. I’ve had several unusable images, but it ultimately made me a better and more thoughtful shooter. I also always use a film simulation and don’t edit my Fuji shots at all. I tried to get as close to the film experience as possible without having to deal with scanning negatives or traveling with film.

I think this is very true @Go-For-Chill

Years ago, I had a Sony RX100 (can't remember the exact model) and I loved it, especially for travelling. It fit nicely into the front jeans pocket, and I would take it to gigs and travelling in places where you don't want to look like a tourist.

I eventually got a spot on the Sony lens, and it was cheaper to replace it than repair it and changed to a Canon Powershot G7 (can't remember the exact model) as apparently the specs were better than the Sony. However, the Canon didn't fit in my pocket. So I used it less and less, until the point I stopped taking it travelling and just use my phone.

                  I missed that Sony.

@motojobobo One of the reasons I still carry a camera on vacations is specifically to limit the amount of minutes my phone is in my hands. A camera lets you disconnect while still capturing moments.

While this Leica remains un-opened, I have a least rekindled my love of taking pictures. Ive reverted to my 10 year old Canon and my even older original Fuji X10. Even those don’t come close to experimenting in the dark-room or pushing Ilford ISOs to ridiculous levels for pure fun.
It was never about resolution or extremities of sharpness and I think buying this thing has reminded me of that.
Maybe that’s why Ive left it in it’s box and kept the receipt!
