@seawolf thank you! One of my goals for the last couple of years has been anytime I’m going to visit or see them that I have at least my point and shoot. I’ve had too many digital photos go the way of dead hard drives over the last 20 years of our trips and antics, that having negatives seems like the only appropriate to ensure I have our memories preserved.

@alexxedge Thanks! Just some amateur shots for a class assignment. Shot with a DSLR in full-manual mode. It was a really sunny day, so I was doing my best with the blasting sun and trying to make use of it.

@seawolf the third and fourth images in the first set are killer. That building is incredible looking, too.

@alexxedge Thank you so much! This is the Geisel Library at the University of California San Diego campus, which is named after Theodore Geisel. If that name doesn't sound familiar, maybe this image will give you a hint. He was from Massachusetts, but he lived and died in San Diego.

@derek111 You're not kidding! The library was a little intimidating at first because it's so big, and there's so much to work with. Once I dove in, the shots started taking themselves.

Dinking around with the new camera over the past few weeks when able. I was very hesitant to get this camera because of the new metering method compared to the ones I had which were just like the original film versions, but I might be completely converted on it now. It's been doing such an excellent job with the metering that I rarely need to adjust the exposure. Makes me half wonder if I should have gone for an M11D now.... Oh, and I charged it up on the ~25th and the battery is still around 70% after many hours of walking with it turned on and ~100 shots. Fantastic camera that will be with me for a very long time.

Thanks guys. I've been shooting for a long while but feel like I've lost a bit of my vision and inspiration and have mostly only done photography on trips for the past ~8 years. Getting back into casual, more everyday shooting feels good.

That last one in particular was a good kick in the ass for me as to why I should carry a camera more often. We passed this sign on the way back home not more than ~45mins later and the little note was wiped away.

Enjoy your trip and hope you come back with some good shots!
