Late starts? You should try being in the UK staying up till 6am in the morning haha
Even when we got a UK UFC event, uncle Dana still pencils it in for a 3am main card start.
Anyways, curious to know how this impacts us over here. Does the coverage shift from TNT to Paramount in 2026?
-
Started following UFC late last years after the Aspinall eye poke infiltrated my algorithm. Gone down the rabbit hole big time since then..
For those interested, who's your money on for the Interim LW fight at 324?
I watched all of Gaethje's previous fights over the weekend, and damn he's gonna be a problem based on what I've seen from Paddy...
-
Anyone watching the fights? This fight night is pretty entertaining so far.
-
@worn2fade Yeah I plan on staying up watching, although just heard Moreno's fight is cancelled (?)
I aint watched UFC live in a hot minute as it destroys my routine the next day, as I'm in the UK haha
-
Actually looks like it was swapped out at the start of the month, I'm looking forward to Moreno's fight though

-
@Jord appears to be still on from what I can see. But dang dude, being in the UK must make it rough to watch them. Since it’s now on paramount I’d just watch it whenever is best for you and avoid any social media that can spoil it lol. They record and keep all fights which is pretty awesome.
-
@worn2fade Yeah it sucks sometimes, I normally wake up to watch them in the morning. Sometimes they're on early if they're in Abu Dhabi but you're right the paramount switch has been really nice.
-
Dude, WHY did they choose to have the Freedom 250 fight on a SUNDAY?! Why not saturday? Why not the 4th of July - on a SATURDAY, so people can actually watch it? I cant do that, i gotta be responsible and go to bed...so i can go to work the next day, and catch the highlights lol
-
@WhiskeySandwich it will still be an interesting watch, if a bit gimmicky. I liken it to the sphere show. People wonder how the atmosphere is going to be.
Picks:
Ruffy over chandler
Don’t care about O’Malley I hope he loses.
Lewis over Hokit
Gane over Perriera via decision
Gaethje stuns Ilia. -
@jordanscollected Oh I agree, they're just massively promoting an unusual spectacle. Its cool that they're doing it but it is absolutely silly. I'm sure conditions will not be ideal for the event, for fighter nor spectator. The fight card is good and it should be an awesome show, but they're totally going to lose viewers based on the timing.
-
I’m curious how an outdoor event will work with weather, bugs etc …
I bet the athletes would prefer a controlled environment.
-
I'm sure the conditions will suck lol I also wouldn't want to be there at all, seems like risky chaos to me.
and Tom, I love to root for an underdog but I don't think I could bet against Topuria either.
-
@WhiskeySandwich I won't be mad if Gaethje somehow pulls it off though, it'd be an iconic moment made sweeter by the fact he's never been undisputed before.

Gaethje stuns Ilia.I don’t like Hokit at all, but I think he sleeps Lewis, sadly. I think Perriera actuallly knocks Gane out. Illia sadly torches Gaethje

@jmp777 when I saw the video of Poatan sparring with Robelis Despaigne I changed my mind and I think Gane’s size will give him trouble.
Gane looked great against Aspinall though the fight was short. I think Alex will have trouble with his size.
I “want” J.G. to win, but I would bet the opposite. Your pick is a more likely outcome. Ilia has great boxing fundamentals as he showed in his Ko combo on Bronx, and even more so in his dismantling of Max Holloway. But if JG catches him like he did Porier (albeit with a kick), an upset could happen easily.
-
@jordanscollected I agree, Gane’s size could be an issue and I think Gane would have beaten Tom. Should be an interesting fight. I hope JG pulls it off, but as much as I dislike Illia, he’s a monster.
-
@jmp777 the rain delay had me turn in after the co-main, but i watched the main even t this morning. What a win for JG. ilia had never been tested like that. Quitting on the stool is more humbling than a KO in my opinion.
And Perriera looked so sluggish I hope he moves back down and stays there. I’m not a big fan of his fighting style anyhow, I actually think his wins are overrated even though he holds 2 belts. He learned a lesson last night. No Chama.
Also, we have seen the last of Chandler and Lewis I hope for their sake.
-
Gane - for the questionable elbows and hammer fists - is legit. Aspinall did not look good against him prior to the eye drama. Love Alex P, but he did get touched up before those illegal punches. Was always an Izzy fanboy but Chama got me on his side. Should go back down to light heavyweight.
Thought the main event was WILD. Ilia wasn't on it, looked tiny in the octagon and Justin - all heart and violence - got that gold for all his box office fights in the past. Topuria's face was something. Would love to see a rematch, but part of me wants Justin to retire - perfect ending for him. The way Justin pulls fighters into his messy world has always been tremendous entertainment.

@Nick looking forward to the next big main event, I am extremely disappointed in the UFC for booking McGregor for another fight. He hasn’t fought in 5 years.
He’s beyond the hype and has a horrible reputation as a person.
We all saw how unpredictable mma results are last night, but my money is firmly on McGregor gassing halfway through the first and getting tko’d in round 1 or 2.
