Merry xMas y’all! Thanks in advance for replying to this!

      Facts:

      • the only way for me was to buy the IH jeans online. I did quite some research and decided about the 555 cut / 25 oz, size 30. According to my measurements, they seemed to fit me well
      • I had challenges when trying to button up but now is fine
      • I can wear them inside the house and outside, they seem to be breaking in … somehow
        HOWEVER:
      • I never soaked them - I was afraid that if they shrink even a bit, they will not fit me anymore. So I wanted to stretch them first then soak them. And I could use them a bit softer and with some “lubrication” for breaking-in.
      • even if they are high rise, when I bend to tie my shoes (or whatever), I feel that my b^#t crack is out.
      • I feel that the thigh is too tight. I could say that I have normal - bigger thighs, more like normal. The jeans look great but IN MY MIND I am unsure if I made the right cut choice (because I had no means to try other cuts, I feel that there is something wrong with the 555 cut for me …I am sure that you know the feeling). All (most) of my jeans are somewhat tight - I wear from 12 oz to 33 oz. I really became an overnight fan of IH and I want to like the look and feel of the 25 oz because I love XHS denim in general.
      • I am super scared about soaking / washing them - I’d love to soften them but I just feel that this may shrink them beyond my limits.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Will they soften, should I go ahead and soak them, will they loosen up a bit, breaking-in time for usual (not heavy) wear …? Any thoughts - please help a brother!

      ———————
Since then, I bought an 18oz OD western shirt, a couple of tees, an waffle sweatshirt and a 21oz OD pair of jeans (same 555 cut - they fit amazingly well and they are super soft) and a 19oz OD type III. I am absolutely happy with all of them!

I think they look pretty good myself. They’ll shrink with a soak, but the important thing to remember is they’ll stretch back out again and then some. Wearing them in a bit pre-soak will make your life easier getting them back on after the soak  🙂

They look fine, but I’m afraid those will never be comfortable. 25oz softens up considerably with a lot of wear, and does stretch some, but if you haven’t even gotten them shrink out yet it would be a long and painful road to get them broken in.

I’d say you might want to try a size up, or check out the 888.

How long have you been wearing them? The thing with the XHS is that it will stretch quite a bit. In my case I had the same issues when I first got my XHS in the 666 cut. The waist was biting.

Look at this post here: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1819.msg701361#msg701361

I kind of circumvented the normal stretch process by using a clamp. Look at this post here: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1819.msg701559#msg701559

Disclaimer: Try it at your own risk!

If the other areas (thigh, knee, front and rear rise) are comfortable and not biting on your skin, the waist will definitely stretch out after few days of wear.

I don’t think the thigh will stretch as much as the waist.  It looks like the wrong cut for you.  I’d also recommend the 888.  I just started wearing them after always were 666 and 777 and I’m very happy with the fit.

Thanks … that’s what I thought. I’ve been wearing them for a month / about 30 wears so far. They stretched out a bit but not much. However I can button them up to the last, put them on without pain and sitting on a couch / chair. Just that when seated or bending, they … show my butt crack and have to pull them up a bit whenever back to standing …

Likely. I’ve made the same mistake with the 33oz / got them in slim fit and, though I can wear them, they’re not really comfy. Seems that everything thag exceeds 21oz, they just don’t fit in slim/super slim unless you’re … really skinny. I can put them on, wear them, walk even … run after the bus … but they’re not very comfy.

I’ll probably have to try to sell them but wouldn’t buy another 25oz unless I try them in a brick and mortar store…

The strange part is that I ordered the 21oz OD in a 555 cut and they fit amazing! That puzzles me allot.

555 cut is a super slim cut so more then often unless you size up will be a snug fit in the thigh all I wear is 555’s I’ve got 6 pairs some are tighter then other 555s-21 being the tightest and my UHR’s I’m sampling being a bit more roomier. If your happy with the cut and the look keep rocking it.

I wore my 555XHS probably for a week or so before I soaked them in the tub and put them on damp which was a struggle just had the top buttons undone.

After a day or so they go back to the stage your at now.

Here’s my XHSib I wore for 6months before I soaked them definitely wouldn’t recommend doing that as breaking them in was brutal .

I red the whole thread and great suggestions. I don’t have the button up issue / never had. In fact, now I can button them pretty easy. But they’re … slim. And that doesn’t make them comfy (or very). I like the slim look on me I’m just unsure if slim is for the 25oz. That’s why I was hoping they’ll soften up with wear. But I’ve been wearing them for a month already so not sure if they will stretch out beyond this. Totally puzzled.

And bigger there be falling down. And 1 month is nothing takes a lot longer then that for 25Oz denim to become soft.

555’s are tight not easy to bend down etc I work in them if you feel uncomfortable could look at another cut as suggested above.

                                Not need to be puzzled.

The 21oz OD and 25oz are entirely different denims. The 21oz is very forgiving, especially when OD’ed, it will not shrink and has a lot of strech in it due the nature of the weave. The 25oz is rigid, not fully sanforised, and a lot stiffer.

In addition, the same cut in different denims will not have exactly the same dimensions.

25oz is specialist denim. It takes a long time to break in. There won’t be any more stretch. I’d
imagine you’d be happier and more comfortable in a size up.

I was probably wrong thinking that slim in 25oz if tight can be as forgiving when wearing as other lighter denims. I’ll try in store different cuts or size up. This experiment costed me 400$ though / if I don’t manage to sell my current 555. Thanks for taking the time to respond loads of excellent view points here, helps allot.

That’s the cut of the jeans tight on the thigh unless you size up  I love the look of the 555 so I’ve stuck to that cut.

Decided to keep them dry for a while (25oz 555). They are getting softer and softer and first blue amazing fades coming out. Scared to soak them - if this is the price to pay to keep them fit, I’ll never wash them. The black shirt is IHS 18oz OD - dam this is an amazing shirt! IH Rulz!
