    • RE: IHSH-292-IND - 18oz Vintage Selvedge Denim CPO Shirt - Indigo

      I own both IHSH-292-IND and IHSH-293-OD.
      My upper body is rather skinny; the OD version fits like a glove (I love to wear it like a shirt).

      However, the 292 (though close in inch to the OD one / small variations here and there), I find it a bit loose (not much, works better on top of a thermal shirt / hoodie than as simple shirt over a t-shirt). I also wear it on top of my military serge or wabash.

      Both are size S. Has anyone tried to shrink the 292? I tried hot soak / not much)?

      I am following up the re-stocks and will go for an XS, that is for sure! These are just incredible pieces!

      [PS: does anyone have any experience with IHSH-177 / size wise?]

      Any timeline on the next restock? This is… chefs kiss

      The 18oz jeans have been released in vintage denim so I expect the shirts soon, assuming is the same denim.

      I was at the IH in Hamburg and also spoke with Self Edge in NYC and they all ordered already …

      I look forward to the restocks / I have S and works more like overshort but want to go for an XS and wear as a shirt year round. This is an amazing piece! Same the 293 that’s brilliant!

    • RE: Snap Upgrades

      Just pimped my 14oz IB with copper snaps. Or at least that’s what I thought … instead, I got a non-returnable half copper / half steel “snapped” shirt. I’ve asked the team to send me the original snaps and will try to put them back on.

      Why offer different snap tones if not changing them entirely?

      For comparison, here’s how my (worn) 292 18oz looks like with full copper snaps - amazing. And here’s my bi-tonal 14oz …

      Both these shirts started the same. The 293 is taken from the same batch of shirts as the 292.  While there is often small differences in sizing within a batch, the difference you notice is mostly due to the overdying. It is an extreme process in terms of heat, agitation and chemical reaction and removes all shrinkage from the fabric.

      QED, there is shrinkage in the fabric, however you will find it very hard to replicate the OD process without access to industrial hardware. The closest you’ll get is a 90C wash followed by a tumble dry. While this should result in shrinkage, I would fear for the negative affects. You’d be fortunate to avoid marbling and/or abrasion lines.

      If I recall correctly, the 177’s came up larger than than the 292’s. Broader in the shoulder and wider in the waist.

      I appreciate the insights!
      I wouldn’t try to replicate the OD process and risk ruining a beautiful shirt!

      I’ll just wait for a restock on XS. Thanks again

    • RE: The 555 cut - 25 oz - have I made the right cut choice?

      Decided to keep them dry for a while (25oz 555). They are getting softer and softer and first blue amazing fades coming out. Scared to soak them - if this is the price to pay to keep them fit, I’ll never wash them. The black shirt is IHS 18oz OD - dam this is an amazing shirt! IH Rulz!

      @Jcaz6996:

      555 cut is a super slim cut so more then often unless you size up will be a snug fit in the thigh all I wear is 555’s I’ve got 6 pairs some are tighter then other 555s-21 being the tightest and my UHR’s I’m sampling being a bit more roomier. If your happy with the cut and the look keep rocking it.

      I wore my 555XHS probably for a week or so before I soaked them in the tub and put them on damp which was a struggle just had the top buttons undone.

      After a day or so they go back to the stage your at now.

      Here’s my XHSib I wore for 6months before I soaked them definitely wouldn’t recommend doing that as breaking them in was brutal .
      I’m 6ft 1” 12 stone .

      Mate they look awesome! So you reckon I should soak them (I’ve been wearing them for a month already)?

      Yours look tight on thighs also …

      @lchprg:

      The strange part is that I ordered the 21oz OD in a 555 cut and they fit amazing! That puzzles me allot.

      Not need to be puzzled.

      The 21oz OD and 25oz are entirely different denims. The 21oz is very forgiving, especially when OD’ed, it will not shrink and has a lot of strech in it due the nature of the weave. The 25oz is rigid, not fully sanforised, and a lot stiffer.

      In addition, the same cut in different denims will not have exactly the same dimensions.

      @lchprg:

      I’ve been wearing them for a month already so not sure if they will stretch out beyond this. Totally puzzled.

      25oz is specialist denim. It takes a long time to break in. There won’t be any more stretch. I’d
      imagine you’d be happier and more comfortable in a size up.

      Great views / thanks. Sizing up probably could do. I’ll wait for a while and try them in store/ I hope to make it to Self Edge in NYC at some point soon.

      @Jcaz6996:

      Why would you want them to stretch out more then that ?
      And bigger there be falling down. And 1 month is nothing takes a lot longer then that for 25Oz denim to become soft.

      555’s are tight not easy to bend down etc I work in them if you feel uncomfortable could look at another cut as suggested above.

      I was probably wrong thinking that slim in 25oz if tight can be as forgiving when wearing as other lighter denims. I’ll try in store different cuts or size up. This experiment costed me 400$ though / if I don’t manage to sell my current 555. Thanks for taking the time to respond loads of excellent view points here, helps allot.

      @the246guy:

      How long have you been wearing them? The thing with the XHS is that it will stretch quite a bit. In my case I had the same issues when I first got my XHS in the 666 cut. The waist was biting.

      Look at this post here: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1819.msg701361#msg701361

      I kind of circumvented the normal stretch process by using a clamp. Look at this post here: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1819.msg701559#msg701559

      Disclaimer: Try it at your own risk!

      If the other areas (thigh, knee, front and rear rise) are comfortable and not biting on your skin, the waist will definitely stretch out after few days of wear.

      I red the whole thread and great suggestions. I don’t have the button up issue / never had. In fact, now I can button them pretty easy. But they’re … slim. And that doesn’t make them comfy (or very). I like the slim look on me I’m just unsure if slim is for the 25oz. That’s why I was hoping they’ll soften up with wear. But I’ve been wearing them for a month already so not sure if they will stretch out beyond this. Totally puzzled.
