Slightly surprised to find this empty thread - what’s wrong with Munich? I’m only an occasional visitor but thought I’d mention a new (to me) place I was at last night.
My experience might be coloured by the fact that I was celebrating a good outcome in a couple of appeal cases with colleagues/clients but I had nothing but good impressions of Pacific Times last night.
I thought it had a great atmosphere, well stocked bar and knowledgeable and friendly staff. While waiting for everyone to arrive I had a decent boulevardier and an interesting conversation with the bartender about vermouth and how he adjusts his recipes through the evening as he gets to know people’s tastes and as their palate is influenced by food.
Will definitely consider a return visit on future trips.

@ARNC Just visit Statement Store mate If you don't know the store already

-
@Fades-for-future thanks - I know about it but won’t get a chance to visit on this trip. Easier on a solo trip.

Hello to IH members in Munich! after speaking with IH Alex, he suggested a fellow forum member might be able to help me with a purchase from the store The Statement in Munich that does not ship to the United States. I am needing some help in purchasing a t-shirt from the flat head and having it sent to me here in California, United States.
The Flat Head ‘Tiger & Dragon’ 9,7oz Loopwheeled T-Shirt – Black / Foam Print
If anyone can help me out it would be appreciated. I am willing to paypal the funds so the shirt could be purchased and shipped to me. Is there anyone of the Munich IH family that can help me out? Weftyarn and Fades are two members who Alex suggested might be game to lend me a hand…the shirt is not available in The US and the flat head Japan said they have none any longer.
If so, please reach out to me so we can chat.Sale price €159,95

Drink Augustiner Helles from the wooden barrel and it’ll become your white whale to find locally.
-
Die Goldene Bar nice and easy for cocktails
amazing drinks at Garçon. Its nice if you're a bit bougie
The Old Irish pub. Its and old irish pub with insane whisky selectionBesides Statement (local IH dealer) theres also Ralf's on the same street thats worth checking out

@scooter Great to have you in Munich mate! When exactly will you be landing / leaving? I could arrange something for the 17th in the afternoon depending on your plans

Either way, some recommendations apart from the maybe more obvious ones

Augustiner Drei Mühlen for the most authentic Augustiner from the wood barrel.
Augustinerkeller also great, my favorite among the more touristy ones. Many locals go there too.Eat some of the best Kaiserschmarrn at Rumpler. Also a great authentic place to have a fresh Augustiner.
Metzgerei Gaßner for fresh authentic Münchner Weißwurst with sweet mustard (my favorite). If you’re into that… Visit before 12AM for Münchner breakfast.
Statement store is of course a must. Combine with Man vs Machine for coffee or Jaded Monkey for great Cocktails.
Walk to Viktualienmarkt, kind of touristy but definitely worth it.Walk from Odeonsplatz / Hofgarten to the surfer spot Eisbachwelle (yes they do surf in winter) and then northwards through the English garden however long you want (stretches many kilometers…). Pick up coffee at Man vs Machine and pain chocolat at Boulangerie Dompierre.
If you’re into museums / art exhibitions etc. your best bet is the „Pinakotheken“ area. Also some nice coffee shops around there. And many young people, Technical University (TUM) just around the corner.
So many more options. Just let me know what you’re into
