I turned 40 today

Edited to add - finished some nightmare work projects so happy with that.

& Parents treated me to the only staple that I’ll actually eat -Japanese rice. Can’t stand calrose rice or mushy rice which is common in majority of the local plates and takeouts/restaurants.

Stoked bc a 15lb bag can be up to $60-70ish depending which prefecture & I’m usually the one to keep the rice stocked.

Thank you! I appreciate the happy bday sentiments more than you think! Grew up most of my life not celebrating b-days due to religious restrictions since my mom joined a particular religion. I decided to do my own thing a few yrs ago. It’s also funny bc of the triple 6’s involved with my bday is seen as bachi (bad luck) . Still getting used to it, but my dad has been more than happy to acknowledge his kiddos day of birth and has been grilling good steak all week even tho red meat ain’t his jam and got an espresso machine acting like it’s a Father’s Day gift. He doesn’t even like a strong cup of coffee or the work involved in brewing a cup coming from a Keurig
