Went to McMillans of Malton for a drink last night. It is actually a booze shop that has the shop bit locked up at night, you walk through that and up the stairs and boom, there is a little bar....

Forgot to take a pic of the actual serving bar, but the last couple of phots are in it......

Another piece of heavy equipment (Articulated loader) and the heavy trucks to start bringing 2-3 ton stones in short order.

To answer why we’re doing this: In 2017 and 2019, Lake Ontario reached record high water levels with a lot of damage to shoreline properties. These pictures are from our neighbors yards:

@goosehd do you not have issues with frozen ground doing the excavation etc. now? I recall a little snow on your last pictures...

Thankfully it's all sand and they were able to get through the permafrost(technically I should use frost layer as we don't have a permafrost level in our area) fairly easily. A clay and this couldn't happen.

Whitby Abbey. Henry VIII did for it during the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Then poor thing, the German Navy took pot-shots at it in WW I.

@Giles That’s quite nice and am running to our local conservation authority to get a new permit…

I should have worked out how high it is, but I'm guessing 25 feet. Should be a breeze with the planning guys....And you could use this 1973 pic as proof of minimal impact to the environment.....

@Giles It’s estimated Runswick Bay has lost over 200 houses to erosion in the last 200 years. Just down the road at Robin Hoods Bay, the whole village slipped away in the 1600’s. Lots of engineering projects have been completed in recent decades along that stretch of East Coast to hopefully protect what’s left!
