Took the 129 up to town (ignoring the rules about brown), moving from Bloomsbury to the South bank.

(Exhibition good but poor queue:view ratio, beef bulgogi (and beer on other thread) good, concert very good especially the handpan piece.)

Valuing this vintage deck and new coat of oil today. 27 y.o. cedar. So many folks have tried to convince me that composite is the way to go, but I see no reason to replace this gorgeous wood. Planks are 1 3/4" x 5 1/2 x 20'. Like denim and leather, wood is one of those natural materials that just gets better with age.

Replacing that with composite would be absolutely criminal. The next time someone with no soul, no taste and no sense of heritage tells you that, tell him/her that....

Found a clip of the handpan concerto (I think from an earlier concert in the current tour). Rosie Bergonzi was mesmerising to watch - a great performer and musician!

Yesterday, we had more D Day celebrations in Gosport, @Cutlasshound , Mrs Cutlasshound, Theo and Primrose came down for the day. We went over to the Isle of Wight, anchored up and had a picnic lunch, then went and found pole position to watch the highlight of the day, The Red Arrows. Finding the best place to anchor up was not without some blues-and-twos and rozzer interventions as I tried to anchor up in the temporary no-anchor zone (under the flight path), but after 3 such interventions, we found somewhere we could drop the anchor (under the flight path, but deemed to be safe by the cops).....
