21oz Selvedge Denim Slim Straight Cut Jeans - Superblack (Fades To Grey)
Our slim straight cut, medium/low rise jeans, made from 21oz “Superblack Fades to Grey” (SBG) selvedge denim. This heavyweight fabric is woven with a black sulphur-dyed warp and a black reactive-dyed weft. With wear and washing, the warp will gradually fade to grey, creating a striking contrast with the fade-resistant weft, which remains jet black. Utilising a double-twisted weft yarn and lower tension weave, our 21oz denim fabrics are heavy and tough, yet soft and breathable — creating a pair of jeans that mould to the wearer’s body shape like no other.

Yessss! Does the 21oz SBG stretch about the same amount as indigo 21oz? I've got pairs of regular and overdyed 21oz that are quite soft and have a good bit of give to them. Figure I should aim for my usual waist measurement in these but thought I'd double check.

The SBG will stretch, but it takes a bit more effort. Something about the sulphur dying seems to make them a bit tougher in that department. You'll end up in the same ballpark, but just like the OD stretches easier than the 21oz, this is a little harder than both.

Thanks, @neph93 ! I had noticed that black denim seems to be a little less forgiving, and the ODs are indeed the most. Pretty fascinating how something seemingly as small as the dye can make all that difference.
@giles have you tried these on yet? Curious what size you’d get — you’re usually my best ref for waist size. I’m torn btw 34 and 35.

Makes sense, no worries — thank you!

Boom, got some. V psyched.

I know it says little to no shrinkage expected, but who's given the 21oz SBG a very hot wash?
After wearing these a few days I realize I should've gone a size down, but too late. They're not bad as is, but I wouldn't mind them shrinking up a little bit if it's possible.
-
Ahhh yeah I've noticed that's pretty easy with black denim in general. Thanks for the reminder, been a while since I've washed a pair.
-
Cool!
Yeah I'm wearing em again today and they're really not too loose. I'll prob just wear em for 6 mos and first wash will be maybe warmer than I normally do, just to maybe tighten them up a wee bit more than a cold wash.

Great fit Thomas!! Looks great with the CPO, too.

I totally agree! If I’m wearing a “denim” shirt, it’s usually SBG or OD jeans to round it out

Is IH-666S-SBG essentially the 666 version of the 777 BS69xSOP420?
On the fence about which one to get…..
