WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY - WAYDT (PICS)
-
@Giles I've always enjoyed Greenwich.
-
One of my teams is wrapping up installation of 200,000lbs of reinforcing to get ready for a 4,000 yard mat foundation pour on Halloween for a 33 story tower we have under way.

-
@dirtyframer how long would that take to pour?
-
@goosehd we will start the evening of the 30th and finish up the afternoon on the 31st. +/- 12 to 16 hours if all goes well.
-
This is way out of my wheelhouse, but I was going to guess close to 20 hour. I’m sure that depends on how many pumps, how many trucks you can get per hour Etc
-
@dirtyframer impressive and crazy when you think about it. Hoping all goes well and can’t imagine if it doesn’t. I’m sure a few expletives are uttered throughout the pour….
-
@goosehd as long as the pumps stay functional we should be golden.
-
@northsouthdenimguy 5x 80 meter pumps for this one with a backup if needed.
-
@dirtyframer do you get support from the local authorities (roads shut down, priority given to trucks, etc). I can imagine there is a lot of planning on multiple levels for something like this to work.
-
@tody That's a terrafying thought, where would we be? Probably listening to the Glee Club Eskimos
-
@goosehd we get minimal street use closures adjacent to our sites, no preference out on the main roads- thats the only reason we always run these large adventures overnight and on a weekend unfortunately.
-
Not trying to jump onto his project, but the “help from local authorities” part made me laugh. At least in the Southeast, the reality is usually that their help consists of making you buy additional permits for road closures, even when you’re not fully closing the road, and then requiring you to pay out of pocket for private traffic control, off-duty cops, etc.
So yeah, they’re very helpful at taking your permit money while you also pay to provide most of the actual support yourself.

-
@northsouthdenimguy They aren't any better help up in New England
-
-
I have a dream… that one day municipalities and developers will actually work in harmony. I’ll give credit where it’s due, because there are definitely some that are helpful, but overall I’d love to see a world where, if you’re developing responsibly, creating smart mixed-use neighborhoods and walkable communities, the municipality actually helps expedite permits and solve problems instead of constantly putting up roadblocks.
A man can dream.
