Random Rants

The same people who will wear something a few times and then send it back to a stockist or the .com as “unworn” and “returnable.”
I should probably step off my soapbox before I get myself in trouble, though.

@northsouthdenimguy …I’m doing the same, but will admit that it is an excellent rant and needed on occasion.
Out…

Or the guy in Hong Kong who cut a slash in his jeans when opening the packet, but denied that he had done it. We asked him to return them so we could check it out. Yes, the cut in the packet married up perfectly with the cut in the jeans. Now every time he orders, he specifically asks us to check that there are no cuts in the item before we pack and ship.
Fuck right off, we know, and you know what you did. So reminding us every time you order just pisses us off......

@northsouthdenimguy or buying slightly used only to find out the right sole was dragging behind a motorcycle for 30 miles and the left is “newish”

Oh yeah, that’s a classic lol. I still have pictures of that in my camera roll…

It's hot in the UK, I'm sweating just sat at my desk, can't sleep, nor can the kids. I hate that UK houses aren't built for AirCon. If one more person says "but you grew up in Abu Dhabi, you must be used to it"... Yeah muthafucka, everywhere in the UAE has A/C because it's too fucking hot and they run those things at full blast 24/7.

@EdH said in Random Rants:
...I hate that UK houses aren't built for AirCon...
I understand the sentence, but what does it actually mean? Just curious.
-
A very simple way of explaining it no interior evaporator coil within the furnace and no exterior compressor(ac unit)
Edit: slightly mor more going on than that, but that’s a pretty Laymans way of looking at it

@hajduk Historically, we have only had to worry about houses getting too cold in winter. Now we have to worry about the mercury hitting 35 degrees Celsius and occasionally 40 degrees in the summer with some regularity and reliability. But housing guidelines still only worry about the former, so new houses (mine was built in 2016) are built to trap and retain heat, not to disgorge it when it's hot. It's currently 33 degrees outside in the shade where I live, and the thermometers in my kids' rooms say 31 and 29 degrees respectively. (I have told Mrs H to stay with them with my parents, who have A/C, tonight as that's just not safe for a 3 year old and a 7 month old.)
My house is great in winter, by bills are teeny (I'm also slightly weird in that I set the thermostat to 17 and wear heavyweight denim and flannels) but in summer it's an oven.
Over here in Europe we generally turn our noses up at A/C, the self-important European/UK zeitgeist seems to be that Americans are just being their typical selves and over-consuming as usual by putting A/C into anything with a roof on it, and we will endure the heat for the sake of not using power and the climate, but I'm sick of it. This is like the 3rd or 4th summer in a row where we get these nasty heatwaves, and is our second this year.

I'm big anti air con. The amount of hot air being pumped out into the world, fuck me, must be one of the largest contributors to global warning.
Exaggeration alert. I am prone to exaggeration and claims based on.....well no base. It is how I think, so how I talk, and how I write, so I do not need a load of data and arguments proving I am talking bullshit, I know I maybe, but the general point is still valid. (I say this mainly for Americans, (Generalisation alert) who struggle to understand a lot of what I say, and take everything at face value. Oh, Germans too).....

Us Canadian’s will spend exorbitant amounts of money in the middle of winter to get away from -30c temps to travel somewhere that is 30c. Then in the summer spend every breathing moment complaining about the exact same 30c weather that we just travelled to months before.
But as I have often said a bitchin’ sailor is a happy sailor. When you don’t hear anything from them is when you have to worry…meaning a mutiny is bound to happen….

@Tago-Mago I didn’t know you spoke Canadian. Well done!!
