Ceiba speciosa (toborochi is the local name) is native and plentiful in my city. Hardy tree. Tolerates cramped sidewalks, car fumes, grows quickly and looks very pretty when in full bloom.

The long game:
The cut wound on this pine will probably take another 2-3 years to fully "heal"

Im hoping the the trunk will be thick and tapered enough to merit a bonsai pot in another 6-8 years

(It was air layered/grafted from a mature tree around 6-7 years ago )
