@Go-For-Chill …kind of related: I was in Turks and Caicos on vacation when I saw a man exiting the water with a sea turtle in hand. I yelled and was about to get seriously ugly when his partner explained that they were doing pregnancy checks and tagging turtles.
Zero tolerance for harassing wildlife…
-
@Go-For-Chill did you see recent news (maybe a week or two) of some dumb tourist who threw a rock at a monk seal on Maui? Guy got it handed to him. Locals tracked him down and gave him cracks. Now he’s being federally charged for harassing an endangered animal.
-
@RoxRocks86 saw that and so happy for that response. I applaud those locals…
-
@RoxRocks86 I did! There was another video of a local councilman saying he doesn't condone violence BUT he thinks the airlines should show the video of the guy getting his lickings on all incoming flights so that tourists know how seriously the locals take their nature. Pretty grand idea if you ask me.

-
@Go-For-Chill most definitely…respect the locals, traditions, and environment or get bent.
-
100% Everyone been saying that airlines/tourism industry should be more proactive in showing informative videos of how to be respectful of the place you’re visiting before landing. This should be a standard for every place where tourism is high.

@goosehd said in Random Rants:
6-7 months out of the year, it is extremely peaceful where I live. You can walk outside and hear animals often sighting them as well. With this being the long weekend, every weekend cottager is here and all hell breaks loose until the end of the season often until late September or early October. I know I shouldn’t complain as I’m grateful for what I have, but hell…
The biggest issue is that people who would never behave badly in their own neighbourhoods, act like complete arses whilst at their weekend getaways.
Wasn’t it Jean Paul Sartre who quoted “He’ll is other people”
Can totally relate!

Public television online streaming won't let me watch Twin Peaks season two before 10 pm!!!

The problems of developed countries always amuse me)))
-
@Walery-Smirnoff definitely first world problems.
-
@goosehd i hate corporate slop, full stop.
-
@goosehd it looks worse than it is really dented wing and new bumper required mostly it’s just rubber marks from the bus tyre
If it wasn’t for a passenger getting off the bus and leaving a note on my windscreen it would have been a mysteryGave it a bit of a run down this morning after filing insurance / police / bus company reports

@Brian It’s scary though how much it will actually cost to repair. A few years ago, a truck similarly sized as mine was coming in the opposite direction on a narrow bridge and our two mirrors touched. His remained in perfect condition and the mirror broke in mine…
We chatted and he asked if we should trade insurance paperwork, contact info, etc. I didn’t see the point because how much could a mirror cost. Big mistake as the damage to mine ended up being around $2000 dollars…lesson learned that even the simplest of collisions can cost a bit for repairs.
