@Tago-Mago I agree with your comment re Pantera.

Personally, I consider Gojira the best metal band on earth at the moment. I have seen them a bunch since Magma and as you say, they put on an intense live show.

They headlined Bloodstock in 2018 and cemented their importance for me. Decapitated were also on the bill and they're another tech death metal act not to be fucked with.

I saw Pantera at the Warfield in San Francisco back in 1994. I was sitting in the front row of the balcony. When they hit the opening chord I remember thinking: “Uh Oh. I should have brought hearing protection.”

Every time I see Dinosaur Jr, even with earplugs, I think how and why. So loud.

Last time I got a physical the dr asked me about scarring on my ear drums. I said yeah sadly Gen X just started using ear plugs at shows. We didn’t know before.
