Slayer is doing a 40th anniversary tour with Down and Suicidal Tendencies. I’ve seen all three bands at different times, Slayer was actually my second show (after tool) in 1993 when I was 13. I was pressed up against the barrier between the band and the mosh pit the whole performance. I’d really like to relive that experience but tickets are $170 and can’t seem to convince the wife it’s worth $300+. I might end of going alone 🤔

@jdwaid as a Slayer purist, no Lombardo, no Hanneman, no Slayer. But that may be a minority opinion. The price does seem a bit stiff either way. Would have been hilarious if Lombardo was still ST‘s drummer

@Tago-Mago I get it bro. I last saw
Lombardo with Mr Bungle. Top 10 drummer for me. For me when a band member dies it doesn’t feel as odd as when they leave the due to differences or conflicts.

@jdwaid saw Slayer in 06, support by Lamb of God, Children of Bodom and In Flames. Cool package, OG lineup, killer sound and setlist. All I could have wished for

The Social D record sounds very much like Social D which in this case is a good thing. And covering Chris Isaak is a big balls move...

@Jett129 i know that version, but never was too fond of HIM. mike ness is doing a good job on his version.

i saw a poster for Sjock festival in belgium yesterday. joan jett headlining, and chris isaak also on the bill. and L7… maybe i should go.

on the topic of 80s covers, this one i really dig:

@tody When I initially saw the track list for the new Social D album, it didn’t register when I saw the Wicked Game song title that it was a Chris Isaak cover. Thanks for pointing it out. It,immediately, made me think of the version by Him. That’s the only song I ever liked by them. I think it works really well in Social D’s style.
