Y'2 Leathers….
-
@mecken88 Thanks for elaborating really appreciated. I have one jacket on order and given the price it's a bit of a leap of faith to order without trying, hence the overthinking

I will reach out to TJ, and consider sizing up to a 46. As many said, better a tad larger than tighter.

@Darth-fader Thanks for weighing in, again this forum is a great source of information and I appreciate you all take the time to chip in.
-
@tvaillant75 - think I mentioned this at some point on this thread but I have both a 40 and 42 in the unlined roughout chore and both drape fine over layers, however when I had the 40 kakishibu chore the 40 was too tight to realistically layer once broken in so put an order in for a 42 for a bit more chest/shoulder movement. For reference I’m a size Large in all of my IH shirts.

@tvaillant75 trust me, I was in the same situation. Living in the northern part of Sweden we have no shop that even sell resemble jackets.. so I asked a lot of people, measured a million times. And paired that with elaborating all thoughts with TJ. He is the man, and gladly helps out the best he can!🥰
So from all the people helping me, I’m glad if I can repay in any shape or form if I can🫶

@mecken88 if I may bother once last time

It's the chest measurement that "worry" me the most, have you seen some tightening also since buying? would you say by more than an inch?
I can cope with shorter sleeve, but I don't like feeling restricted in the chest area.
Thanks -
@tvaillant75 I would say ever so slightly maybe, not the biggest difference in chest for me. By size chart the chest width on a size 42 is supposed to be 22,5” pit-to-pit.
And if I measure it now, it’s 56cm pit-to-pit that’s equivalent to 22,04”
And I never measured it to begin with so can’t say for sure exactly how much it may have shrunk in chest. But maybe a little if I trust the chart, that say it’s 22,5” and it’s now 22,04”
So maybe expect some “shrinkage” in the chest. But shouldn’t be so much. At least not for me, the biggest change was by far the arms length

I’ll give some reference material here. I’m 6’4 and 190 pounds. I typically wear XL to XXL in Iron Heart, the vast majority of my Iron Heart outerwear is XL with a few in XXL where I needed extra length. I could wear a L in a lot of Iron Heart if I wanted something really tight and fitted. I wear Ship John in a large for a Wills, there’s still extra room in the chest at my current weight.
I have a Henry, Tom and Scar from Y2. The Henry is a 44 and has always been very fitted on me, it was almost too tight when I crept up to 210 pounds this winter. I bought the Tom in a 46, if’s definitely big on me in the chest, especially after loosing some weight. I’m hoping it drapes a bit better once it’s broken in, it’s very stiff leather compared to my other two. The scar I purchased in a 44 and would say it’s one of my best fitting jackets. I could layer in it if I wanted to but it looks good without. Not too tight or loose. I find the leather jackets definitely look weird on you when you first get them, you have to let them break in.
Hope that helps a bit.

@tvaillant75 this has been my problem, the chest measurements tend to be a little too snug on a lot of y2 jackets unless I go a size up, which I find works best as if the shoulders are a little large they will shape to fit the more you wear it (especially if the jacket gets wet) I have found the jackets tend to shrink down more rather than stretch out

Interestingly mine is 21 inches/53cm pit to pit, so an inch smaller thank @mecken88’s even though they are tagged the same size, and 1.5 inches smaller than the chart. It explains why it fits me well though, that’s about perfect pit to pit for me.
It’s not that much of a surprise though, there’s always a fair amount of measurement difference on leather jackets.

Pretty stoked that my new 42 came in the mail today! New label/tag is on point !

Received the chore jacket and really pleased with it. The leather is so amazing, first time getting this level of quality and I now understand the leather jacket bug

Was in between sizes so decided to size up as I don’t like to feel restricted and I’ve seen this jacket mold quite a bit. Here over a tee shirt, now onto the break in!
Cheers

Nicely done—and good call sizing up.
I’ve owned both the first gen and this latest run, and this batch of leather feels noticeably more pliable right out of the box. Compared to the original, it’s almost like you’re starting with ~3 months of break-in already baked in.
For reference, my pre-wear measurements lined up very closely with what TJ posted on the chart:
• Chest (pit to pit, laid flat): 22.5”
• Shoulder (seam to seam): 19.25”
• Sleeve (from shoulder seam): 25.25”
• Back length (from bottom of collar seam): 26.75”Overall, seems like a more forgiving starting point for me w/ the 42 versus the first iteration of my 40. I’ll try to remember to measure around the 6 or 8 month period and report back,

To say that this thing mold and evolve is an understatement… wow that is amazing how it has already draped after a couple of days. Yes I wore it 15h per day and caught a bit of rain, but still impressive.
Really happy about how it’s settling in. Have to admit I was a bit on the fence at first about the sizing but I am glad I followed the advice from people around here. I think I chose the right compromise sizing one up vs sth perfect out of the box, so thanks!

Hopefully my experience is useful to others, cheers everyone.
Really over the moon

I thought this pic would’ve a good comparison to how a new one looks. I’ve had it 6 months, it had seen very little wear before I got it. It gets worn about once a week and has spent a bit of time on a hanger in my conservatory getting some sun. Pretty happy with how it’s breaking in and the colour evo.
